  1. Good to see you're still a quitter Jack Matters not how you're doing it as long as you keep doing it! Feels great the further you go without smoking doesn't it?
  2. There are many symptoms related to quitting smoking and not everyone experiences all of them although we all experience some. It matters not which one's we experience individually providing we deal with them and not go back to smoking because of them. Learning to focus on the positive benefits that come our way rather than on the negative symptoms is important as it makes the quitting process less difficult. As we all know, quit symptoms are only temporary. Benefits from quitting are permanent
  3. Wow! 8 Months smoke free today! Congrats CL. Hope you celebrate yet another milestone in your forever quit. Give yourself a pat on the back for all the hard work you've done to get here

  20. You will fill those moments by just saying NOPE every time those thoughts enter your head and by the time you are mowing your lawn next spring ........ you will NOT be thinking about smoking at all through the whole process. A cold brew after it's done maybe but smoking will not be part of your thought process by then if you stay clean from here on It;s why we pledge a full year here in this place. You have to face all the seasonal triggers for a full year through all the seasonal changes before your brain is truly and fully adjusted to life that doesn't include puffing as a reward or as an escape from something.
  21. Thanks for the update Joe! Hope the birthing things goes well next week. Let us know how it turns out. And yes! We all love a few new quitters. The more the merrier

  23. Your Mom sounds very similar to mine, in terms of the things she worries about I just got home from my Mother's place today. She will be turning 98 next month and still lives on her own in a 3 story house. She has been OK up to this point but is starting to have some issues here and there. It's amazing that some of our parents are doing pretty well at pretty advanced ages My mother still lives like it's the Great Depression. She grew up then and some of the things she does now are pretty telling about those times. She will wrap up all left overs from a meal - no matter how few. Nothing gets thrown out - NOTHING! Her compose bin is still brand new after 15 years - never seen a scrap of food - lol! Glad you had a good time celebrating with your Mom!

  25. Nice job MB! Keep moving forward and stay close to this place because things will start to get "old" in your circle of family and friends. It's sometimes referred to as "no man's land". Everyone expects you to be over it by now but you know you are not there yet. The daily challenges will start to lessen but you are now in for the long game. The long game is rewiring your brain to operate normally again without relying on smoking every hour or so. Non-smokers don;t get that part but, we DO! Stay closer than ever through the next few months because you will need the knowledge and support that this place can offer you.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
