  1. NOPE! Never on Hump Day!!
  2. Congratulations Suz on reaching the 2 month smoke free milestone. That's the way we build a lifelong quit. One day, one week and one month at a time
  3. I'm so happy for you Ellen and your daughter both having reached your 5 month smoke free anniversary Awesome work under trying conditions. Hope you are doing OK my dear. Be sure to treat yourself today!! I don't know what would make you happiest. I'm probably not the best one to ask because I would just go for a mud-bath but .... that's not for everyone ?
  4. Don't bother me ..... I'm pooping!
  5. Ou-la-la!! Three
  6. So sorry to hear TS ? This quitting thing is difficult at times so having 100% commitment is crucial along with a lot of education about this addiction. What happened? Why no SOS to let others talk you off the ledge or did you just decide you wanted to smoke more than you wanted to quit momentarily? Most important thing is ..... what did you learn from this relapse? That will be key to not repeating it. Gather your resolve, bury your disappointment and join in again to create your forever quit
  7. This is my cure for that affliction On a serious note, it wasn't mentioned if this became a problem after quitting smoking or if it was an issue before as well. If it was just since quitting, I would suggest it will rectify itself after some period of time as body and mind adjust. If there were signs of it before quitting, it may be another issue that needs to be addressed. Age alone can cause changes in sleep patterns and we never know when those might happen. Sorry to say, I have not sure-fire tips that would be of any assistance here. Some of the ones offered above are for sure worth a try

  10. That's the way you build your permanent quit GITW!! Having established a base quit but then learning to be ever vigilant and not being fooled into that famous nicodemon lie .... "You can have just one. Who'll know? You can do it then just go back to your quit!" It's a lot easier to say no now than to have to face the whole withdrawal process again. That Nicodemon bastard is tricky though.
  11. I too have recently been "tested" in terms of heightened anxiety, stress and well .... you name it. Thinking back on these past few days I can honestly say, smoking would not have changed a thing or made me feel any better about anything. In fact, quit the opposite I expect. Glad I didn't find out 1st hand!!
  12. Your quit is still young lml. You will get there as all of us do who ride this beast no matter what it throws at us. We are all addicts and always will be. The difference is that we can all learn to deny that addiction and it does get easier and easier to do that the longer we refuse to allow the addiction to rule our lives. Fight the good fight. Don't expect too much too soon. It comes much more slowly than we would like but, the important thing is that it does come to all of us that persevere - that I promise you!
  13. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones .... take it or leave it but I must admit; it's great to give the Chicks a good spanking every once in awhile. Come to think of it, when I show up those chicks kind of just spank themselves cuz they know they're gonna lose
  14. Don't envy your struggles to stay quit permanently Matty. I hope you manage to first of all stick around here and participate long enough to re-build a solid quit as well as find whatever it is that has been missing so far in order to not have to go through this process endlessly. You deserve better than that for yourself
  15. And here we thought you'd quit 7 months ago.
  16. Sorry I missed your BIG DAY Jane ? It looks like the crowd has thinned a little on the Lido Deck by now so we can sit, have a quiet cocktail and chat about how great it is to have achieved that 1 year smoke free status! Great work by the way and so happy to hear the good news about your daughter too.
  17. Congrats jam! Wow, only 1 more month? Hey, I think I see your ship coming in now Great work by the way and yes, you should be very proud ?
  18. Great work Barry! You are on the downhill slope of getting to the Lido Deck now. 7 Months smoke-free is a tremendous accomplishment! Celebrate the occasion today. Maybe hit up Vegas since it's 7's this month
  19. Congratulations Seren! 2 months smoke free is fabulous You are building a really solid quit now. Be sure to treat yourself with something a little special for all the hard work you have invested in yourself!
  20. By numbers I may be an old pharte but I have never felt that I have really come that far so don't be dismayed because it does get better all the time; even though our addiction kicks us in the teeth every once and a while even after some time has passed. The good news is that most every day is no longer laced with thoughts of smoking or urges to go back to that lifestyle. Any thoughts of smoking become so much easier to dismiss. The more we invest in this quitting thing, the more we have to lose should we falter so the choice becomes easy and crystal clear with time. Just NOPE every day, even if it;s just inside your head.
  21. Welcome to the quit train Mike I have also found a recent rough patch due to just life sh*t! We get by that stuff if we really want to and certainly doing that is much better and easier than starting over again. I'm going to do what I need to in order to stay quit. You are welcome to join me if you like?
  22. Rumors that I started smoking again is simply Fake News!! Nope!
  23. ^^^^ Wise words these! People who come here for support themselves often don't realize how they end up supporting others even in their early days. Once you have realized that your initial fears about quitting were unfounded and you begin to embrace the process, it becomes so much easier to achieve your goal. You are well on your way already L

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
