  1. Wow - 6 Years and you are also still here mentoring new quitters! Both are major accomplishments and something to be proud of. Treat yourself to something extra special today! Oh - was supposed to be Chippendale Dancers not, Chipmunk Dancers!! Oh well, enjoy just the same
  2. I often tried the "cut-back" thing but I could never make it last more than a few days at most. I was always back to my normal smoking amount in no time. According to this, I guess it really wouldn't have made a difference anyway.
  3. Nope! I'm still around and not going anywhere for long, although I'm out of town off and on for a while yet with some limited access issues. Besides, Mr. Titwank would be devastated if I left ?
  4. Yes Givi! This is the most dangerous lie there is from this addiction no matter whether you're 1 day, 1 month or 5 years quit. That little voice that whispers it's sweet little lie to you. "Just one can't hurt! Go ahead, take the edge off. Remenis for old time sake! What harm can just 1 do?" Yup - that's the famous con that has ruined more quits than any other circumstance I know of across new and seasoned quits alike. You're right Givi - Don't ever fall for it!!

  6. You always quit for yourself first Kate but the added benefit is that your grand kids will never have memories of you as a stinky smoker. You can hug them all you want for as long as you want and not have to worry that you smell of stale cigarette smoke
  7. Forgot to tell ya ..... payday's on Friday
  8. How did you get hold of my interview tape ?

  10. It's official folks. The Celebration Thread Torch is being passed to our wacky lovable quitter Jo It's time that this important thread was under the control of a new generation quitter. Someone who can inject new life and add their own special touch to the daily celebration notices. I know Jo will do a bang-up job so .... go get 'em Jo! Now without further ado, the passing of the Torch

  19. Great Post lml I agree that erasing smoking from your subconscious is not possible but, the longer you stay smoke free the deeper into your subconscious those memories of smoking will sink. That is both good and perhaps bad too in a way. It's good that we will not have to have thoughts of smoking just popping into our minds each and every day but then there's always that danger that because we are not expecting those thoughts that we may become complacent or forget some of the basic critical things we have learned in our quit - like, Not One Puff Ever and, there's no such thing as "just one". I fully expect to be living my life in the coming years with fewer and fewer thoughts about smoking but I also need to always remember the experience of quitting so I never have to go through that again!
  20. We thought you were still camping ? Congrats though and good job not getting eaten by that bear ?
  21. Eight is Great! Good work KT You are well into your quit now and doing wonderfully.
  22. As others have already said, everything you're feeling is very normal and to be expected early on in your quit and you are handling it just fine. Just keep doing what you are doing. Finding ways to outsmart that SOB Nicodemon. As you do, you'll become the strong one and it will weaken. Keep coming here to talk about what you are going through and vent when necessary. We have all been there and applaud the efforts you are now making in your early quit.
  23. Welcome about the train Devo

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
