  3. ^^^ It may not be visible to others around us Weegie but all of us here who have turned the corner on this addiction have felt the very same thing. A sense of accomplishment like no other. Each of us in our own ways have confronted this deadly addiction and taken back control of our lives. Now that's Freedom! It's not an easy thing to do which is the reason there's such a special bond with people on this board who we have never met and likely never will. Here's to us!
  4. Great work Jack! 11 months is super fantastic and you are now only a month away from reaching the Lido Deck I'll have a cold Beer waiting for you!
  5. WOW! 7 Years is something for all of us here to look toward achieving
  6. You've worked hard to get to this point Albert. Congrats on reaching the 1/4 Year marker! Well done Be sure to celebrate this important milestone.
  7. Pork Chop is on his way Jo!
  8. I know! He hates that demon pig
  9. With humidity it's in the 40's C this weekend even here. The bears don't like it. Too much fur! It's hot all over it seems.
  10. Still though, it was an historic moment in time. I think Jo owes me some kind of trophy? I mean, never seen that ever where only 1 person was active. I want an award or ...... cash money! Not leaving til I get one or the other?
  11. You should have some Dogs & Beer with that Spaghetti
  12. So first time I've ever seen that. I was the only member online in the forum at 9:33 PM EDT Not sure if I should be proud or embarrassed that I have nothing to do on a Summer Sat. night but come on here? Oh well, Let's celebrate anyway. That will be a table for three (Me, Myself & I)
  13. 11 Hey! We're in double digits boys
  14. Well - NO but, congrats PhillyQ for being smoke free for 2 months! This is a great start on the road to freedom.
  15. Congrats lml on acheiving a 2 month quit! It IS possible for everyone to quit this addiction as long as we focus and have a deep personal commitment Hope you have also talked your brother into quitting. Even if that is just by example! Stop by sometime and let us know.
  16. Hey! What happened to Grand Mammy? Now it's some seedy reference to an electronic relationship?

    commitment

Yup! What Jillar said. Just be determined to do it now! None of us know "for sure" if we have quit forever. All we know is that we will not smoke TODAY! That's the whole idea of the nope thread. Pledge your self commitment to stop smoking just for today Days add up and before you know it, smoking seems like a distant memory. I know ..... hard for you to believe today. I've been there myself C12. So have all the others here. Guard your resolve closely in the early days. That nicomonster will be whispering sweet nothings in your ear during these days. Don't listen!

This might just be your defining moment C12. Think about that for a moment. Love Jo's quote about Crossroads and stepping UP or stepping DOWN! Always step UP!! This is the road to freedom Life long is possible for all of us and YES, that includes you C12! Be kind to yourself in these early days C12. You know quitting is worth the effort or else you wouldn't be here We are cheering you on!
  19. It's always easy to rationalize that if we were still smoking, all life events would be so much better. NOT TRUE! The addiction adds another layer of ugliness to our lives. Think of it this way; "my life is off the rails at the moment so if I was smoking, it would be SO much easier. NO! The smoking addiction would just allow you to avoid those undesirable life events. You'd be outside somewhere obsessing about the life issue while smoking a cig. Great! You are adding self destruction to the temporary life issue - Nice ?

    two days

Good post - hang in there C12
  21. Anything you can do in these early days to bolster your confidence and endure the early days of your quit is GOOD! Each battle you fight and win is a testament to your resolve to quit AND, just think, you will never have to fight like that again providing you keep your quit! Christine, this quitting thing happens very slowly but it DOES happen as long as you stick with it. You'll see
  22. I'm not sure if I've had one or not as I rarely remember my dreams. Haven't remembered any dreams at all since I quit smoking actually. Not sure whether it would be blissful or scary as hell if I did have one. Perhaps the context of the dream would determine that?
  23. I'm glad you have decided on freedom from this crippling and deadly addiction C12 What Jim said is the truth. Quitting smoking is a choice we make and once we do we NEED to be FULLY committed to our decision. You know already how ugly things can get in the early days of your quit. That's why being fully committed and taking smoking off the table no matter what is so important. So is sticking close to the community here daily, at least for the first while and reading/watching everything you can while you're here. You will learn valuable things from the experiences of others who were at the same stage you are right now. Please don't expect the worst of your withdrawals to end suddenly on day #3 because you are not using any NRT products. Yes, nicotine will be out of your body sometime around day 3 but, you will not have had time to train your brain to live comfortably without smokes by day 3. This is the bit that takes the longest time to adjust to. Weeks, yes, even months of gradual adjustment of your thinking about smoking. How long did you smoke for? Probably years I would guess. During those days, you brain was making connections between smoking and all sorts of other life activities - stress, joy, sadness, boredom. The list is almost endless. It took years for you to develop those associations when you smoked so .... guess what? It will take a while to readjust your thinking to what it would be if you had never smoked in the first place. Stick with us here and let us help you along. It's free and will probably be the best decision you ever make for yourself. Education is the key to quitting , along with unwavering self commitment and a bunch of other quitters like us to lend some support
  24. Nope! Kept telling Pork Chop; "turn off the cam"!! He wouldn't do it though ?

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
