  2. Yup! A day at a time Nikki! That's the way we all get there. Be sure to go to the daily NOPE page and pledge your commitment to not take a puff just for this day. It's a great way to start your day. Commit to yourself and all of us to be smoke free just for today. Before you know it, you will be smoke free for life
  3. Oh Boy!! You Did IT! A huge congratulations to you Jack! This is such a special occasion You will no doubt be very proud of what you have accomplished and rightfully so. Now's the time for celebration - wild and crazy celebration. If you have done this - just imagine the possibilities going forward! Well Done Mate! Lido Deck Awaits!
  4. Embrace the yuck in the early days because that's what will make you want to protect that beautiful quit as you shape it and come to call it your own
  5. Why did I always think you lived in California - lol!
  6. Jays dump closer Osuna to the Astros! I figured they'd get him out of town asap after he was charge with beating his woman friend back in May or June. Although he has yet to be convicted, there's no appetite here for "alleged" violence against women. He's done in this town regardless of the reality of what may have happened. It's unfortunate because he has a lot of talent. I guess we'll see how this all plays out. Jays are in "rebuild mode" anyway so might as well clean house

  12. Nice Job Illpass! 8 months is two-thirds of the way to the Lido Deck. Celebrate your achievement then carry on
  13. End of day report ........ NO Rain! It got windy and cool for a bit then the sun returned. I must say though that my lawn looks like it did back in the spring after turning all brown in early July when temps were up and rain was non-existent! Weather seems to be returning to more normal now
  14. Great to meet you Nikki! Congratulations on taking this first step to freeing yourself from this addiction! Stay committed and come here often to educated yourself and get support from others who are traveling the same path. Take it a day at a time for now Nikki. The weeks and months will take care of themselves. Just focus on the next hour and then the next day! We are here to help you along!

  16. Nope - not yet but clouding over a little now. Chance of Thunderstorms for the next 6 hours or so they say. Day has been stellar so far though. Mid 20's not too humid and sunshine all around
  17. Ummmm ......... haven't quite got to that yet. Was testing some of the refreshment offerings first ?
  18. That's an interesting idea As a smoker, I'm not sure I ever identified as "an addict"? Addicts were those down & out people who hid in the shadows putting all sorts of horrible stuff into their veins using a needle. I'm not sure I even was aware that smoking was an addiction before I quit and started educating myself about smoking. It was just a bad habit, right? I often notice that sort of terminology being used here when someone new arrives and posts about quitting. I was the same in the beginning too. Education about this addiction is a key to quitting and staying quit!
  19. Very true Givi! We all forget the intensity of our early quit days after some time has passed and that can put us at risk of becoming complacent about protecting our quits. That's how new quitters help us longer term people. They remind us of just how precious our hard won quits are

  25. Yes! Moving is stressful but as others have said, anticipating in advance that you will be experiencing a new and potentially stressful situation, you have things under control already just by thinking about it in advance. Most situations that we anticipate will be unpleasant are not really all that big a deal when they actually unfold. Anticipation is worse than reality usually. You've battled your way through 8 months of quitting this addiction so you have all the knowledge and tools to keep going - no matter what you might face. You'll be fine

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
