  4. Well, Great Job by the substitute teacher I say!! Not only did he get himself out of a potentially very uncomfortable teaching moment he made his alternate lesson really count by ensuring it impacted the students. Really great idea to have something a little edgy to show a group of kids that age. Makes them engage with the subject matter a lot easier. Well done sir! When I went to school, a substitute teacher would just come in and assign a reading lesson then more less baby-sit us.
  5. Congratulations on reaching the seven month mark RP! It isn't just luck that has brought you here either so, keep fighting your way to that one year mark!
  6. Nine months eh? WOW! Now that's a quit to be proud of 3/4 of the way to that Lido Deck - don't stop now!

  9. johnny, pretty sure that's "Okie-Dokie" in Chinese ? Nope!
  10. It's not that surprising really because most of us saw having a cig as a reward for whatever. We're all humans as as such, rewards are important in making ourselves feel better, even when we feel good because of other events! Feel sad - reward yourself to feel better. Feel happy - reward yourself to celebrate the happy event. Feeling anxious - reward yourself by disengaging from the stressful situation for a bit. That's the part of quitting that takes the longest. Breaking those invisible associations our brain makes with the act of smoking. And yeah ...... you used to feel great lighting up a smoke in celebration of something but after this many months of abstinence, you'd probably choke and near puke after your first big drag on that first bad boy. Now's the time to form some new associations in terms of rewards when something great happens. You'll just have to consciously think of what that should be for a little while until it becomes second nature to you.

  16. The early days suck for sure JM. Anger, brain fog, feeling unable to be of any use doing anything is pretty common, among numerous other quit symptoms. They aren't fun to experience but they are just temporary and will lead you to a life where your body and brain will function much better and you will feel pretty darn good all the time. Pay your dues now for a short time and freedom will be yours Stay close to the board here while you're going through this stage. It will help you get through. Lots of games to play here too if you just need some fun distraction.

  18. Yes Linda, it's not a nice time because your body and brain is in turmoil and that nicotine addiction is screaming to be fed. Time to grit your teeth and just stay true to NOPE! It's tough no doubt but it IS doable. You are in the worst of it now at day 3 so power through it girl I'm sure your hubby understands that you are not yourself at the moment. That quick fuse won't last forever. Things will eventually smooth out for you.

  20. Hello & welcome to this place for quitters Anywhere people with the common goal of quitting a horrible addiction and stay quit gather must be a good place so stick around and you'll likely get just what you need!
  21. Ah yes Nikki your story is so typical of the early quit symptoms most of us go through. This is one of the reasons I stick around this place to be reminded of the struggle we go through to reach the point I'm at now. I never want to get complacent about the quit I fought so hard to achieve. As others have said, it's all temporary and will slowly improve. I particularly remember that in the early days, time seemed to stand still. A day was like a week! I could barely function those first few days yet somehow I made it through and things did slowly start to improve. It really impacted me a lot going through all those quit symptoms. It made me realize just how totally smoking for all those years had affected not only my body but my mind as well. I mean, experiencing what I went through after quitting was something else. Readjusting to "normal" was a real struggle in the beginning. Now, I wouldn't ever want to go back to what I was as a smoker - never! Keep up the great work Nikki! You are doing everything right ?

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
