  11. Great news Catlover! 9 months is fabulous and you are 3/4 of the way through your first year Celebrate your hard work and carry on to that Lido Deck my friend! Word on the street is, you don't take no sh*t from that Nicodemon any more!!
  12. Great Job on reaching the 3 month smoke free mark Linda! That's really something to be proud of. We all have different struggles early on in our quits and you've had your as well but the fabulous news is you found your way through those days and have arrived at the 1/4 year mark in your quit Be sure to celebrate in some way that's special to you.

  17. You will be OK to come in summer (June -Sept.) as the temps will be in the +30 range. Just don't come in winter if you don't like cold and lots of snow
  18. You and me both! Don't come to Canada in winter - that's for sure. Last year around New Years Day, temps were hovering around -40 C at night. When it's that cold, you can't breath through your nose because your nostrils just stick together. Breathing through your mouth hurts because too much cold air is getting into your lungs all at once. There's no upside at -40C
  19. Who says you can't have it all - right?
  20. More for You then It's odd that some years there are lots of kids and other years ..... nothing! You just never can tell.
  21. ^^^ I agree with what you say Lilly When I was a smoker I scoffed at the horrid pictures on cigarette packs. You can put anything on there you like but you will not deny me my smokes! That was my attitude also but, now that I am on the other side of the issue, I would rather have them legislate anything that will make it more clear to smokers that this is not only dangerous to themselves but it's socially unacceptable now as well in most places. Beyond that what can be done? I don't believe in making them illegal. That doesn't work. I guess what I am hoping is that these little things might in some cases bring people to sites like this one a little sooner.

  24. Condolences Linda for your loss. Memories of great companionship will live on forever in you. You and your friend were blessed with this relationship and lived it to the fullest. That's among the best life has to offer
  25. I think the smoker will see it most. You take that cig from the pack, it's will be right there and you;re doing that maybe 20 times a day. Depending on how you hold the cigarette, you'll see it from time to time when you take a drag, even if it's only in your peripheral vision. Again, small visual images here and there repeated every day for as long as you smoke. Sure. you can say it doesn't bother me because I get numb to it after awhile but the images are still imprinting your brain every day with a negative (not a positive) message. I can't say for sure it makes a huge difference but it's better than what big tobacco used to do ..... portraying cigarette smoking as socially acceptable and in fact glamorous!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
