Hope no one on here is a PETA member

I'm not sure if that's actually the case - maybe? I know you can get a Rat on a Stick in Thailand. Sort of like a Rat Kabob (not that I would myself thanks anyway)

Thanks for sticking around Parsley and letting us know you're doing well. That IS important to us here because I think we tend to take on other people's quits like they are our own and you're right, it is a little concerning when people just disappear and we don't know if they are OK or not. I know most just move on with life but still, we wonder. And please don't feel your comments are inadequate or not important for others to hear. I think we all feel that way and we don't realize that the simple words any of us may have to offer on any given day might just register with someone we don't even know who is thinking about quitting or trying to quit. Every single contribution here could be a live-savor to someone

Since I was a kid I remember people saying; "Oh, you'll never see a cat within 3 blocks of the Chinese food place." Of course, I knew it was likely not true but I'm curious how that rumor got started.
-
Wow - longest thank you note ever We're all glad you landed here and your contributions to this place have been numerous and invaluable - that all goes without saying but now, it's been said! We're all very excited and proud that you've now crossed that Lido threshold and joined us up here in the Old Pharte lounge. Make no mistake though - it was YOU who had to do all the work in battling your own demons as your quit progressed and you did that successfully so kudos to YOU!

Yeah - nothing unusual going on here MLMR. All normal and everyone's timing of events, cravings etc. is different anyway but they all reduce and virtually disappear over time providing you just don't smoke. That's the important bit - NOPE!
-
I wonder where that myth started; about Chinese food places using cat in their recipes?
-
Back to basics MLMR! Deep Breathing until the craving passes. Read your reasons for quitting in the 1st place. Think about how awful that first puff would taste, how you would choke and the complete and utter deflation your would feel immediately after that first one, knowing you would be back to the beginning again. Distract yourself. You'll get by it. We always do

Here's the biter - Misfit! Found in the garden in May 13 years ago. Mother went missing before kittens were weaned. We had to feed from a bottle for 3 weeks. Vet said: "It won't live!" He's now 13 years old and a bit of a fatty Does not know how good he's got it

Their fur is so plush and soft. Our other black short-haired cat seems constantly angry and likes to bite anyone who chooses to put their hand on him. I have been on antibiotics more than once because of infections he has passed on - yet I continue to feed and house him. Go figure! He comes running and is all rubbing up against your leg when it's feeding time though lol!

It's odd because she snuggles with my wife , who doesn't really like cats until this one came along yet she's still a little hesitant with me and cats normally flock to me for whatever reason so I figure she must have been abused by a man in her early days maybe? She's living the good life now though - that's for sure Our other cat hates her but he hates everyone including us They seemed to have found their common ground now that we moved houses. It's no one's claimed territory I suppose?

Multiple is a must unless pillow is ridiculously huge. Love having a big celebration for your own Birthday or hate it?

What happens to a cat's nose living outdoors at -40 C (Dark Spot is from severe frostbite) Holly "The Non-Smoking Christmas Cat" captured in a live trap Dec. 29th 2017 in our back yard. Could not be in the same room with her for a month after capture without her going crazy. To this day she will not eat food put out for her until everyone has left the room. She must have been abused in some way connected to feeding as a kitten. Don't know how old she is but not more than two years now and probably under 1 year when captured.

We don't have a Christmas pudding but if we did; I expect I'd want to light it up Sleeping in a bunk-bed (stacked bed); are you up top Or; Down below?

TRUE! And, Gift Cards are borderline Money gifts are impersonal. I know there's the practical side to it but in my mind, Christmas is about celebrating personal connections. Take an unwanted gift back for cash after Christmas or donate it to charity?

You are doing well not having smoked for almost 2 weeks but I can not wrap my head around how you believe that the cravings would disappear after 1 week. If you have read anything on this forum, you would know that this just is not possible. Yes, the cravings to smoke become less intense and less frequent the longer we go without smoking and without putting nicotine into our bodies but the time frame is certainly not 1 week for any of us. This is why we recommend staying around here for at least 1 year because that's generally the length of time it takes to develop a really solid quit. That doesn't mean you will be having strong cravings for a whole year. It just means you will have gone through all the things you do at different times of the year and those things may bring on cravings the first time you face them as a non-smoker. Read the posts from others here and what they have experienced because you will not find even 1 post that says anyone did not have cravings after 1 week. It's a long process Pott! It will happen for you too but you need to give it a lot of time before you will be completely comfortable not smoking. That will also include getting nicotine out of your body at whatever point you feel you can do that. Keep fighting the craves you get a night and you'll do fine. Just remember; you are a nicotine addict just like I am. If either one of us ever takes another puff from a cigarette, we will awaken the monster again and will be back to full time smoking very quickly - Don't give up - ever! -
Great job Jayhawk! 6 months is a really solid quit. Be sure to reward yourself today to recognize your efforts. We'll look forward to seeing you next month at the 1/2 year mark
