  6. Hey Kdad; remember what people say about the 3's? 3 days, 3 weeks and 3 months can be difficult times for some people so, stay strong and get through this last 3 Should be clear sailing after that.

  13. Sslip's idea of the money jar is a good one. Setting up and actual "quit, - money jar" and putting real money in it every day or at least every week might actually be a good subtle way of illustrating just one quit benefit to your wife. You can talk about saving until you're blue in the face but seeing IS believing! I expect it would give her pause for thought anyway.

  16. Kate, I'm glad you made it through this tough craving and you did all the right things in order to get past it. Well done!! These early battles with our addiction are emotionally difficult for us. The more of those battles we put behind us, the more we have invested in our precious quits. After each one of these victories, it becomes even more important to get by the next challenge because to lose all that personal investment always results in a feeling of personal defeat. Right now, you're a shining light not only to yourself but to others as well because despite the challenges, you're doing it! You're smoke free! You want to stay there and we all want you to stay there too. Please remember that these lies your addiction is still telling you in the middle of a strong craving are just that - LIES! That first puff is followed by dizziness, coughing/choking and then the sudden realization of what you have lost, not to mention you're right back at the start again. Don't ever be a slave to this addiction again. Fight as hard as you have to and as often as you need to - don't give in. You can do it

  19. Stay strong and get through today Kate! You won't buy cigarettes because you don;t smoke anymore. Your lungs are happy about that. You just need to retrain your brain until it's comfortable with it too. It will happen. Keep yourself distracted and get to seelp as early as you can. Can't think about smoking or craving when you are asleep. Tomorrow's a bright new day

There may not be an recognizable reason why this time is different but be glad that you feel this now because that is significant progress Realizing that smoking will do nothing but lead you back into a life of addiction slavery is a huge step forward. When you truly believe this, it's not possible to follow through with smoking again because, that's a choice you would have to make and it's a choice you have made before and regretted so guess what? It's gotta be different this time because that old road you have taken before is just a dead end and you know that well. This time is different - be encouraged by that!
