  1. The worst that your addiction to nicotine can throw at you when you quit will not harm you permanently, only cause you disruption and mental anguish temporarily. The effects of smoking can and probably will harm you permanently or even worse. Keep this in mind when you think you "need" a smoke. The reality is .... you "need" to quit!

  10. ^^^ Yes! And, the longer you part yourself from smoking, the easier it gets just like a broken human relationship and eventually, you will understand that that your relationship with smoking was as toxic as any human relationship you have ever had; probably more so. You will be very happy you put in the hard work to break free

  19. Well, congrats on being almost 1 month quit That is the worst of it over and now behind you. I gather you are using the patch to quit? If so, I would follow the recommendations of the manufacture or your chemist as to how to proceed with the step down patches. Follow the program and be prepared for stronger triggers as you step down in nicotine content along the way. Eventually, you will be free from the nicotine and that's a good thing. Changing the rest of your life around and getting comfortable with all that will take time - plain & simple. You are over the worst of it now though so take heart that there IS light at the end of a long tunnel. You may get weary at times. Tired of forcing yourself to deny your cravings even though they are less intense than before. Stay true to your commitment and you CAN NOT fail. It's right there in front of you if you want it.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
