  4. Congratulations on your 5th anniversary being smoke free Marti! Hope you get a chance to celebrate today
  5. Right. Wasn't it about this time last year when QSMB went down? Beware the Ides of March! Et tu Brute?
  6. I'm good to go.
  7. Hi DizzyD 1st of all, congrats on being 8 days smoke free. That's fabulous! And welcome to Quit Train. Glad you decided to join us here. Support is a surprisingly powerful component to quitting as most of us have found out here so stick around and participate often. Ask questions, read all the material you can here. Education about this addiction is key to beating it. Know your enemy! You will get lots of great advise over the next day or so from the good people here. I'll start it off by saying just take it 1 day at a time for now in the early days. Each day promise yourself that you won't smoke for just today. Then repeat that every day. Setting small goals make them easier to achieve. We have a daily NOPE pledge page here on the site. You may find pledging your daily pledge not to smoke useful by posting there daily.NOPE stands for Not One Puff Ever. Glad to see you on board the train. Next stop is Freedom! Enjoy the ride
  8. There comes a moment in each of our quits when through whatever process we have gone through individually we just finally get it! This is your moment Abby! You have arrived at your permanent quit

  20. Hope you have some time to entertain yourself doing something fun tomorrow CL! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
  21. Yeah, I was wondering too. I had a look and think she may just be on holiday?
  22. Lilly - it's the same for all of us no matter what path we take to quit smoking. NRT Champix or cold turkey; doesn't matter, It's all the same in the end. You have to be prepared to endure a short period of discomfort in order to feel normal again without smoking. It's just the way it is for everyone. Until you are prepared to go through that adjustment you will struggle and repeat the same scenario you have done for over a year now . You need to just quit smoking!! It won't kill you but continuing to smoke might just do that Based on what you have said over this past year I am very concerned that you may have already done damage to your lungs. Have you seen a pulmonologist for an assessment of your lung function in the past year? (A PFT assessment and CT Scan of your lungs) If not; please do this. You need to stop smoking right now and get your lungs checked. This is serious business. Just do it no matter what the temporary upset to you might be. You can't afford to go on like this! I'm sorry if this upsets you but you need to address your addiction to nicotine immediately! We all thought we could not live without cigarettes at one time but we have all just said ..... NO; no more!! And, we have all endured what ever discomfort we had to in order to come out the other side as non smokers. YOU CAN DO IT TOO!! You need to believe this and just do it. Like I said, quitting won;t kill you.
  23. I was heartened to read in my local newspaper this week (yes, we still get a local newspaper - ink on paper ) that our regional school board is organizing a series of Information Sessions for senior school students regarding the possible health concerns surrounding vaping. They have recognized that vaping is being promoted to this age group as a socially acceptable thing to do if not the "cool" thing to do and are concerned that this generation of students are at risk of nicotine addiction. They have also committed funds to change all existing No Smoking signage on school properties to include "No Vaping" as well. Glad to see they are being proactive on the vaping issue.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
