  5. Well, congrats on being almost 1 month quit That is the worst of it over and now behind you. I gather you are using the patch to quit? If so, I would follow the recommendations of the manufacture or your chemist as to how to proceed with the step down patches. Follow the program and be prepared for stronger triggers as you step down in nicotine content along the way. Eventually, you will be free from the nicotine and that's a good thing. Changing the rest of your life around and getting comfortable with all that will take time - plain & simple. You are over the worst of it now though so take heart that there IS light at the end of a long tunnel. You may get weary at times. Tired of forcing yourself to deny your cravings even though they are less intense than before. Stay true to your commitment and you CAN NOT fail. It's right there in front of you if you want it.

  7. Yes! Keep trying!! You will come up against what seems to be insurmountable cravings in the early days - there's no getting around that - it's a fact. All you need to do is just refuse to give in to those horrible craves to light up again. Battle them with all your mite! It keeps getting a little easier each and every day to do that. That's why they call the first week Hell Week - it truly is but IT IS doable. Believe in yourself and look to others who have done it for inspiration. You are NO different from us all here. We have done it and so can YOU!
  8. Your time spent not smoking is very interesting. It really adds up doesn't it? Congrats on 2 years smoke free It really is amazing how all that slavery to nicotine then all the angst from quitting just melts away with time leaving us exactly where we want to be - non smokers for life

  10. Prayers for your brother Jimmy. I hope he gets the help he needs. None of us realize just what we are exposing ourselves to when we start smoking and even while we continue to indulge in that horrible addiction. Unfortunately we all live in self denial while we continue to expose ourselves to so much potential health implications.
  11. Congratulations on reaching the 3 month mark Potts! This is something you struggled with for a long time and now you have built a very good base so you can remin quit for good. I'm sure you have ;learned a lot about not only this addiction but about yourself along the way too. All useful knowledge for a healthier future

  16. Yes, it was horrible but, someone's gotta go there to support the locals right? Sampled all their beers while there. They were all pretty good but I liked the Barena best I think. The wife liked the Imperial so, we got another bucket half and half

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
