  1. Funny you should mention that, about the movie stars. Just yesterday I was reading a list of famous people (a lot of them movie/TV stars) who died of smoking related diseases; mostly lung cancer. The list went on and on and on. I couldn't even get to the end of it. It's amazing. When you watch those old TV shows and they are all happily smoking away ...... little did they know then that they were facilitating their own early demise. I remember a lot of them were between 60-70 when they died but some even a lot younger. It's shocking to look at those statistics. I too am angry with tobacco companies but most;y at myself for ignoring the facts once they were made available to us. Regret does nothing positive though so all we can do is protect our own quits and do what we can to encourage others to take the step to freedom.
  2. Remember too that smoking triggers will come out of nowhere as seasons change. You mentioned it is really hot there now with monsoon season coming. Perhaps this is the first time you have faced this seasonal change since quitting and so memories of what you used to do at this time of year are creeping into your head. You have already built a tool chest of ways to ignore these sudden cravings so put those to work. Once you get by these seasonal change cravings, you will never have to worry about them in the future. because you will have already dealt with them. Keep going forward. You are getting to where you want to be. Permanently smoke free!
  3. They are fighting for their corporate survival in any and all ways they can, no matter who they hurt or kill along their way .... like they always have. The Who did a song called; Won't Get Fooled Again! There was a lyric near the end of that song "meet the new boss, same as the old boss" - applies very much to big tobacco unfortunately

  6. Huge congrats Dizzy for reaching that 1st month smoke free!! The beginning is always the hardest as you learn how to navigate your way along the pathway that takes you to lifelong freedom. Keep up the great work. It does gradually get easier and easier from here on.

  15. All those people and just 1 train? That's nuts!
  16. Yes, I think so but not very familiar with Columbus or how big it is or what it's noted for. I would have thought Cleveland for an Ohio sports team but .... apparently not?

  18. @bakon Time to rip it down & rebuild? Don't feel too bad though. It could be worse. You could be cheering for Tampa, lol. How do you lose 4 straight in the first round after ending the season more than 20 points ahead of every other team in the league? And to top it off, you lose to a team from Columbus?? I don't even know where that place is let alone why that put a hockey team there! That's just bizarre!!
  19. I just wanna go home

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
