I agree with what Doreen is saying R3; it's now time to make a plan to get off the gum. That doesn't mean quitting it right away but make a workable plan that YOU can live with. If you're using 3 per day, cut that down to 2 per day for a week or so then down to one per day for a short time then set a date to stop altogether. That way you will know how cutting it down will affect your cravings. It shouldn't be a gig deal at this point because you have done well in adjusting to the mental part of not smoking cigarettes and that's a major step forward because that's what takes the longest. Adjusting your day to day life so you can go about your day without smoking cigarettes. Getting nicotine out of your body is a 2 -4 day process once you stop putting it into your body by what ever means (smoking, vaping, gum, patches or sprays). It should not be that big an issue now after 4 months of not smoking.
When you start cutting down on the gums and get a craving, distract yourself. Think about something else or go do something, even if it's just a walk around your living area. There are all kinds of ways to distract yourself. Whatever the case, you don't want to use the gums as a new mental crutch to keep putting nicotine into your body. That would just ruin all your hard work for the past 4 months.
