  1. I was just posting about this in the Curse thread @Abby. It's bad lately in the southern Ont area and many other areas across Canada. You're right. More vaccines in arms asap is what's needed. We all thought we'd be in a lot better position now even new years day 2021. Been a disappointing start but hopefully a happier ending to 2021?

  3. It's not the healthcare system but the fact that there is NO vaccine being manufactured here in Canada so we have had to write contracts with producers like Pfizer, Moderna Astra Zeneca etc and it gets shipped in from other places. There have been start up issues with some of the manufacturers which has delayed the volumes we were supposed to get early on. We had to vaccinate front line worker, old folks homes etc. 1st. That' s done now so they are starting by age group to vaccinate the general population but it's going slowly due to available vaccine. The other factor that has jumped the case numbers are the variants of Covid that are now running rampant. The UK, Brazil & South African variants are more easily transmissible and more deadly. They are filling the hospitals and ICU's with not only old folk but now the younger folk too. Last year it was mainly us old people who had to worry. Now it's everyone who's getting really, really sick. The government also decided now to jump the interval of 1st & 2nd shots from roughly a month to 4 months😮 This based on NO scientific data but rather it takes the heat off them somewhat if more people have at least 1 shot I guess. The east coast is doing a lot better. Few cases because they shut their borders early last year. No one in and if you go out, you quarantine 14 days upon return. It largely worked for them. Their lock down is even stricter now than last year. I got in last fall to deal with my mothers house clearing and sale. Today, I would not be allowed in for that reason. They get almost no international flights direct to their airports either which makes a huge difference. Toronto gets hundreds of thousands of international travelers a week so guess what comes in with them? You have to supply a negative Covid test result on arrival. Lots of fake ones being caught by border officials. You must be tested again on arrival and quarantine at a government approved hotel for 3 days at your expense while waiting for test results. People are just saying F-You and walking out the doors. Cops can't stop them - charter of rights and freedoms etc. Ha! If I was running things it would be shoot to kill on those cheaters (that's why I'm not in charge by the way 😂). Anyway, it's a mess for now. It'll improve slowly I suppose as more get vaccinated. I really do wonder though about international travel. I'm starting to think years before that really gets going again. It will be a long, slow process I think and the experience will not be quite like we remember things being.

  11. FU*K!!! Looks like this summer is a wash out now! Daily Covid case counts doubled this week over previous week. Projecting exponential growth for next 2 months. Our daily case rate in the Province was at about 1,000 per day. Now at 5,000 per day and expected to be 30,000 per day by end of May. Lockdown order extended indefinitely now with emergency police powers added to stop and detain anyone outside their home. $780.00 fine if not going for groceries, medicine or medical care. All schools closed indefinitely. All personal services, dining/drinking, exercising facilities closed. All outdoor sports activities banned indefinitely. All playgrounds, parks, camping and boating facilities closed. Not yet clear whether curbside pick up for goods is still allowed or not. May be delivery only for non-essential goods. Work from home only for all non-essential workers. Provincial borders closed so no one in or out excepting commercial transport of goods. Next few months gonna be interesting😵 Yee-ha! With little vaccine available we riding the monster now!

  14. The world's first television commercial aired on July 1, 1941, before the beginning of a baseball game in New York between the Brooklyn Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies. The commercial aired on NBC's WNBT-TV, was only 10 seconds long, and was an advertisement for Bulova watches. It cost the company a total of $9. Lol - don't show that price to any Super Bowl advertisers 😂🤣
