  1. I remember when I was quitting I finally got to the point one day where I was around some smokers and the thought that I had was one of feeling sorry for them. Sorry for them because they just HAD to have their smoke and I no longer did. What a great moment of Freedom I experienced that day. You know @Genecanuck, quitting smoking is mostly a mind game we have to play with ourselves. We often have to force ourselves to focus on not smoking when around others who smoke because our subconscious makes us think we're missing out on something wonderful whereas the reality is you are missing out on nothing! You are building a new & better life for yourself. Sounds like you're doing great in following the right path here. It's not always easy, especially in the beginning but very well worth it in the long run! When you find yourself in those situations (around other smokers) try forcing your mind to look at what they are doing not as something you're missing out on but take pride in yourself for being able to reject what your addict mind is trying to make you think of the situation. You are progressing to a much better life while they are stuck with being ruled by their addiction! You're the winner in that senario
  2. Yeah, that sounds interesting! Looking forward to seeing the final product! Possibly the only way to make prunes something one would look forward to eating

  4. Scallops: Assembly area: Ready for broiling: Ready to Eat: The pinapple chunks add a nice flavour to the combination of scallops & bacon but if you use a dip for the scallops before eating them, the pinapple doesn't usually go well with most seafood dips so ... pick your poison
  5. So here's a pictorial progression of my bacon wrapped scallops ... with chunks of pinapple that I made the other day. Parcooked the bacon: Cutting up the pinapple chunks:

  9. Took a short drive across the draw bridge over the Welland Canal today to get to my fav fruit & veggie farm in Niagara on the Lake. Their roadside stand is in full swing all summer starting with cherries, taters, fresh garlic, beans and stuff in June then the peaches & fresh corn start in mid-late July. Corn is almost done now; maybe another couple of weeks? Peaches will soon follow in terms of disappearing. All the stuff is picked same day right at the farm and put out for sale ... SO GOOD! I take advantage of it as often as possible for the few short months they're open I love their little New Potatoes; so yummy. No peeling; just cut them into quarters, boil them then add some butter when serving (making myself hungry now )

  18. Beautiful day out there today Sunny, almost no breeze today. A tad warn at 36C (95F?) but sure beats being cold!! I was out having a look at this monster Sunflower we planted early June (we'd started from seed in May indoors). This thing is still growing and the flower at the top is just starting to form now so there's another few weeks to go I expect? There's gonna be some really happy birds & squirrels if the flower is as big as the plant! I figure it's about 9' - 10' tall now (the fence is 61/2 foot tall). Any previous Sunflowers we've grown in the past have been 5-6 feet tall but this one is ginormous

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
