  1. Not sure. They had so many books! I think we have 10 or 12 boxes of them which we'll donate once we're out of quarantine. I'm keeping the bunny one though Found a bunch of cook books and recipes from my great Aunt I guess. They were from 1916-1918 period. There was also a dress pattern magazine from the 1800's. Paper on that one is falling apart though.
  2. @jillar Found a book today that was given to my father for his 4th birthday; Feb. 7th 1928! I'll have to give it a read tonight! I'll let you know how it turns out (lol).

  14. I'm sensing someone's intoxicated with pride over some sort of large scale footy win?
  15. Anyone else watch the Series game tonight between Dodgers and Rays? Great game with back and forth runs and changing of the lead but what a finish - WOW! Bottom of 9th; 2 down with 2 strikes on the final Ray's batter then, all hell breaks loose! Most bizarre ending to a gam I've ever seen. Critical game too!!
  16. Wasn't for the critters she was feeding. I remember her doing that when I was a kid even lol.
  17. Tip of the Day! Don't ever clean out the house of someone who grew up in the Great Depression Era!! They save EVERYTHING Example: Twist Ties I swear my Mom saved every one she ever came across however I have only seen one bag that she ever used one on Fridge was puzzling too. Little bits plastic wrap with 3 left over green beans, 2 pieces of mushroom and another with a dab of potato. I guess she thought she might not be able to get more food the next day? Waste not, want not or something like that. That depression era mentality never left those who lived through it I guess.
  18. Yeah, Lots of memorabilia sorted through that brought up memories of a life long ago. Now, we're down to the; Holy Crap Mom, did you NEVER through anything out phase And yes, that photo is the view from the couch in her living room where she sat most of the time. It's no wonder she didn't want to go until she just couldn't manage any longer But hey! She made it on her own to a couple months short of 100 years old so that's pretty good. Now she's getting the care she needs even though it's a big adjustment for her, especially in these Covid times.
  19. Day 4 of sorting and packing all the stuff in my Mom's house today. That and calling around to see who will take household items and furniture for donation. It's very tough in the pandemic times. Stuff isn't moving out from the charities so many of them can't take anymore stuff But, at the end of each day we sit down on the couch in her living room, garb a couple of cold one's and watch the greatest show on earth
  20. Congrats Saz! 7 years, wow what an accomplishment. Hope you did something special for yourself today

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
