  2. I understand you're upset at the break-up but in days, weeks & months to come you'll likely reflect on this as a good thing. You don't want to be tied to a narcissistic jerk for life; that's for sure - YOU DESERVE BETTER!! Same applies to your future life with regard to smoking. You KNOW smoking is a danger to your health long term not to mention to your finances so why would you choose to continue to be a smoker? Makes as little sense as continuing on with a partner who mistreats you. Again; YOU DESERVE BETTER BECAUSE YOU'RE WORTH IT! You quit smoking for yourself; period, full stop! No one else really benefits from it like you do so please consider getting back on the train with us and continuing with your quit. Why not swallow all the bitter pills at once and start looking forward to a much, much better life in all respects> Please think about this seriously. Your life could depend on it.

  9. This is what erases the word "failed" from your initial attempt. You don't fail unless you learn nothing. I think you learned lots! The key here will be using that knowledge when you decide to quit again.

  12. Here's a little tip for you that might help you deal with avoiding that 1st smoke in the morning: Understand what your morning routine is BEFORE you quit again. Making very slight changes to that routine the 1st day you quit will focus your mind on what you're doing because it's not normal for you. When your mind if focused on something other than smoking, then that trigger to smoke either won't be there or it will be weaker. If you follow your normal routine, you'll do that robotically without thinking about it leaving your mind open to that 1st strong craving you'll have 1st thing in the morning. Let's say this is your morning routine: Wake up and head straight for the shower. Then dress and go to the kitchen for something to drink or eat. Change the sequence of what you normally do. Go get that drink or eats first then take your shower. Just that little change will focus your mind and delay cravings because you've changed your routine and your mind is trying to figure out what's going on. Distraction and keeping busy are keys to avoiding/delaying the worst of the cravings in the early days of quitting. Again; food for thought perhaps? 🤔

  18. Nice one @catlover! The years just keep adding up, which is the way it should be! I hope you're chillin' today and still feeling the pride in what you accomplished 6 years ago!
  19. Yes, great post Q.G.! It encapsulates what we've all felt after we joined this site. Actually, that's why I choose the screen name I did. The definition of Reciprocity is: "The practice of exchanging things with others for mutual benefit." which is what I figured this place would be all about. When we first arrive all scatter-brained in the early days of our quit we receive help from those that went before us and once our quits are more secure, we then pay it forward by helping others who have just quit and are trying to find their way. It really is the perfect scenario and is what makes this place so special!
