  1. I'll echo everyone else's comments by saying I also Love your post. It shows a real understanding of things. Being a smoker vs a quitter. The things you mentioned I believe will carry you through to your forever quit. Yes, things will continue to get easier for you. I expect you have realized it's a very slow process but it IS happening and will continue to do so. You're getting to the point where maintenance of your quit is key - just don't do anything silly on a whim and you'll be fine. You now know, smoking never solves anything so would we even entertain lighting up again? I think I was at about 7 months when I just suddenly, out of the blue, had this epiphany about the whole smoking vs quitting thing when I started to feel sorry for others I saw smoking and glad about the fact I had quit and wasn't chained to my addiction any longer. That sort of moment will come to you as well I believe and in the very near future, if it hasn't already. I'm 5 years in now and I'll admit, I have the occasional thought of ...."wouldn't a smoke go nice about now." Then I wonder; where'd that come from lol. Remnants of smoky memories I suppose but they are just fleeting thoughts; nothing more.

  4. If I turn all my shirts inside out before I put them in the dryer, will they be turned right side out when I take them out

  9. I do remember seeing a few posts by you. I'm glad not only that you're still quit but that you're also 'happy' about it. That's really important, a positive attitude! Stick around if you're so inclined or at least check in when you need to. Lots of knowledge & support here and it's all free
  10. Yeah. One minute you're just relaxing on the beach and the next you're defending yourself against a beach umbrella attack

  12. Thinking maybe I'll stop going to the beach. Of all the ways I ever thought I might die, this ain't one of 'em https://globalnews.ca/news/9055639/woman-dies-impaled-beach-umbrella-south-carolina/

  14. Does if look like this?
  15. Irritability, anxiousness & restlessness were my least favorite quit symptoms when I was in the early days of my quit. The main thing that I turned to was breaking away from whatever situation that was causing me grief and doing some deep breathing in order to calm myself although, fisting a few peeps in the face may have also felt pretty good - until I was arrested for assault You know it's true though that all quit symptoms eventually disappear completely yet the many benefits you'll receive by quitting remain with you for life!
  16. Pretty sure I have too
  17. It's not just the carcinogens in cigarettes that can kill us and others around us. I've heard of people falling asleep and their smoldering cigarette igniting a fire but I've never heard of this one https://barrie.ctvnews.ca/combustible-potting-materials-to-blame-for-deadly-gravenhurst-blaze-1.5951878

  20. One of my best quit benefits too Funky!! Travelling is a lot more pleasant as a non-smoker. A year or so before my quit we flew to Istanbul from Toronto - 10 hrs. non-stop. Major nico-withdrawal BIG TIME! Think I almost knocked the wife over trying to get outside to have a smoke once we landed So nice to have those years in the rearview mirror now
  21. Oh WOW! Half a Year already! This is a special celebration as it marks that 1/2 year point. Keep doing what you're doing and before you know it, you'll be relaxing on that Lido Deck in another 6 months

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
