  1. Sunny, I recently gave into a sudden impulse to smoke after quitting for almost 15 months. Please believe me, there will be a time where your life doesn't revolve around smoking. in fact just the opposite. You will eventually find that you don't have time to smoke nor will you want to give smoking any time of your life. I'm going back to the drawing board myself, but I do have the experience that allows me to assure you that you can do this bored or not bored. Promise.
  2. Thank you guys for your support and your wisdom. Have not smoked. Can't say the desire has left me yet. But as last time and time passes, I know it will. Detoxing sucks. Fortunately, I know it will subside. Thanks again!
  3. Unfortunately, his dream is my reality. After 14 1/2 months of not smoking, I have some employees who smoke and decided what the hell, one can't hurt. After about to choke to death as if it were the first I ever smoked, the euphoria from the buzz of the tobacco kicked in. Needless to say I tried another the next day. The choking wasn't as bad and the "high" was just as good. Then through the month of April I steady increased to a pack a day. No more euphoria, no more buzz, just plain shame. Well today is a new day. Haven't smoked at all today and its 11:30 am eastern time. WILL not become complacent again as that is the obvious reason to my lighting one up back in the first week of April. Hard for me to believe it only takes one. But, now i know first hand that's all it takes. Hope this helps some of you guys to stop any kind of logic to flirt with smoking.
  4. Can't believe its been a year already! To all of you having a hard time with quitting, take it from me, if I can do it you can do it. You will get to a point where you don't think about it or miss it at all! Thanks again for the kind words!!!
  5. reciprocity, I know I'll be scolded by bakon for ghosting, however thanks so much for helping with the mystery man pic! Hope everyone here is doing good and staying quit!!
  6. Thanks so much!! Gotten sooo much easier. Hardly ever have a craving.
  7. Well Happy Birthday whether it is or isn't !!
  8. No mocking here! I have the utmost respect for everyone who has or is trying to quit! I am very serious about my quit after almost 33 years of smoking at least a pack a day. It has been an uphill battle that I'm happy to say I'm winning. Not here much because this site reminds me of smoking. Perhaps there will be a day that I can be here and not get a craving...
  9. Thanks every one! Still on the train!
  10. Sorry guys, did not see this until recent. Still riding the train! This may sound dumb, but its the truth. Before I quit, I could not imagine my life without smoking. Now, I can not imagine my life smoking. I still have cravings, however they last about 5 seconds and certainly are not as frequent as they were. Hope everyone of you are doing great!!

  14. Still traveling the train! Thanks!
  15. This past weekend was probably the ultimate test. Went to Hard Rock Casino Tampa with 9 others. I Think three smoke regularly and four smoke only when they drink. When I first stepped through the door the smell of stale cigarette smoke really hit me as I have been there before when I smoked but never smelled it so strong. After dinner, we started gambling and drinking. I had smokers all around me and to my surprise it didn't really bother me. Every time I got the craving or "urge" I got out gum. I like "Extra brand peppermint". Needless to say I made it and I really didn't find it that difficult. Glad to know that even when drinking I can handle it. Wasn't sure how that was going to go, so happy to say it went well!!
  16. Thank you guys for the support and the kind words! Fortunately I have a friend who quit 6 years ago, so when I had a question like, "is this nausea and headache part of the deal" (which were the first few days) I have someone who knows. In this stage I am liking being able to taste and smell better than ever before!
  17. Hello everyone! My name is John, I am new here. Pretty cool site. Thought it was going to be the hardest thing I have ever done. The first day was the hardest and has gradually gotten easier as the time goes by. Quit for a girlfriend once in the past, this time is for me! PROUD to be a NONSMOKER!!! ;)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
