  1. WOW!! Fabulous ideas! I'm trying to stay away from snacks and chew a piece of gum - but am willing to grab a bag of chips if that's the only thing between me and a smoke! I also like the idea of making a cup of tea. I may go buy some fancy teas to stock in my desk. That is a solid idea. We have a really big building here, so I can take a walk almost whenever I want to need to. I will be back at work on Day 3 and I know it will the hardest day. I may book myself into "meetings" all day so my calendar looks full and I don't have to deal with people. Thanks, y'all
  2. I need some help putting together a quit plan. I have had many quits fail and it's all because I did not have a plan. It's fine to throw out the empty pack and declare "That's it! No more!". But then the first crave hits and BAM! I carpool to work with a non-smoker, so that's covered. I don't smoke at home. My husband doesn't smoke, so that's a no-go. Fortunately, I don't have any bad habits there. My real concern is work. 1) I'll never take a break and 2)I will be off-the-charts cranky. What have y'all done to cope with work?
  3. We are in this together, Juan. I know I quit before - for 3 years! And through it away with "just one cigarette. We can do this, right? I'll be looking for you
  4. Good to meet you, Kelly! I'm a newbie, too! I guess we are on this train together.
  5. I have started a gazzilion quits - and dropping them just as quickly. I have been "in the process" of quitting for 10 years. TEN YEARS. My mother, a pack-a-day smoker for her entire adult life, died of lung cancer 4 years ago. One would imagine that an intelligent person would have quit smoking after that. Reason and intelligence have no bearing on addiction. SO... anyway. I am committed to quitting and I think this site will be helpful.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
