  1. Yesterday was inventory day; which usually means a 10-12 hour day depending. Depending on what? Depending how many fires drills we go through before the final approval button can be pushed and we can all go home. Yesterday it took 7 hours. SEVEN. That's 3-5 hours less than it normally takes. Why the difference? Some of it can be attributed to process improvements I put in place (go me!). But at least an hour was saved by just not stopping three times to go outside and smoke. We measure everything we do here, so I am confident where the time was going. I got to go home on time for a change. I got to do something fun last night. Smoking really eats so much time and energy that I never even considered. Today's mantra? Carpe Diem
  2. Welcome aboard the Quit Train! I'm sorry I missed your earlier post. Glad to have you on board
  3. Happiest of Valentine's Day to all the passengers on the Quit Train. A big shout-out to the Number One reason to quit smoking - not tasting like an ashtray!!! Today's mantra: Bring on the smooches!
  4. I was snowed in yesterday until about 3 when the plows finally got to my neighborhood. There was no leaving the house. Not just because of snow, either. It was so stinky COLD! YOu know what? I wasn't outside shivering just to get a smoke. Because I am in charge now, and not the addiction. Well... frankly, chocolate is in charge now, but I'll get on top of that, too. One thing at a time. Today's mantra: This is MY party and I'm not gonna smoke.
  5. You are rockin' the Quit, Pedro. You're a superstar.
  6. I did not know this! I will be posting today! Thanks, Doreen.
  7. TGIADQ!! (Thank goodness it's another day quit) NOPE - not today. Not one. Not even.
  8. Oh - wow. That was a harsh thing for your boss to say! But look at you now!! Just past the 2 month mark and on a roll! Good job
  9. NOPE. Not today. Not a chance
  10. I keep coming back to how good everything smells now. And how unbelievably foul other smokers smell!! How could I have smelled so bad an not noticed. YUCK!!!! Yuckety yuck yuck yuck All the fabric freshener and scented lotions could not have overpowered that stench. HUGELY motivating to me! Today's mantra: Give perfume a chance.
  11. Running in circles this morning. Not a bad day, just insanely busy. Too busy to smoke - that's the good news Today's mantra: Smoking can't keep up with my life
  12. You are an inspiration and a SUPER HERO!!! Thanks for your encouragement!
  13. Still here and still quit. I'm not able to sign on very much over the weekend and I really miss it!!! Fortunately, weekends aren't usually triggers for me, so I do okay. Today's mantra; keep it real.
  14. NOPE. Not this girl. Not this day.
  15. Hey, Ramona! Glad you are here! I've done the "serial quitter" thing, too. And learned the hard way that I can't have even ONE. I am not a social smoker. I am the smoking version of an alcoholic. One is too many and a thousand aren't enough. Ride the wave. You know what to expect and you can build a plan on what you will do when it happens.
  16. Good morning and Happy Friday to all folks on the Quit Train. I appreciate your patience and support while a blather on every morning. This is how I am keeping my quit in focus. This is how I am holding myself accountable to my quit. And it's working, so I am gonna keep doing it! I had an... intense day at work yesterday. I was up and down the stairs about 6 times in and 90 minutes. It occurred to me on the 5th trip that I could breathe. My chest didn't explode and I wasn't panting at the top of the stairs. After only 2 weeks, I am seeing benefit that is more than cosmetic. Today's mantra: You're welcome, lungs!
  17. Nope. Not today. Nope.
  18. Hey, Jackie You are so wise to have a strategy in advance for dealing with a situation you know might be fraught. Protect the quit at all costs, right? I found that if I drink from a straw, I can fight the craves better. Not hard to imagine why. Can you use a straw at the party? YOu can even buy them in colors to match your theme!
  19. Sorry to log in so late. I like to make this site my "first thing" task. Alas, I walked in to convoluted problems at work. Actually, it is a very straight forward problem and easy to fix if the person who caused the problem would take responsibility! You know what I mean. Anyway... still here... still clean
  20. Good morning, Evelyn!! Glad to see you posting. I think posting helps keep my quit firmly in my mind as a priority. I had to rearrange the universe in order to support this quit and I am NOT NOT NOT dropping it yet. Keep posting. Love to see it.
  21. I went through no end of trouble to smoke - and to "hide" the fact that I smoked. I bought gallons of spray fabric freshener for my car and coat. Sprayed so much in my car that the headliner started to sag. I would go "out to lunch" and sit in the parking lot of a store and smoke. Then spray down with freshener and drive back to work with the windows down - even if it was snowing - to blow out the smell. Addiction is powerful. I'm glad I am on top of that beast!
  22. Today is not the day. NOPE!
  23. I had a conversation this morning with a fellow I saw occasionally in the smoking area. Nice guy, but the smell from his jacket extended like a force field from his body. Not even kidding. Four feet away and I could smell him before I could hear him. How on earth did I ever pick up a habit that made me smell like that? Today's mantra: The sweet smell of success
  24. No. Not. Nope.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
