  8. Happy Birth Month Ex!!!!!! <3
  9. Great job all! I'm also still going through those feelings, etc. However, one of my bigger hurdles happened last weekend during my husbands birthday party and I passed! We were outside with all of our friends and had a bit to drink (ok ok, I had a fair share more than that) and guess what? I DIDN'T SMOKE! I had just as much fun without and and although I've been nervous for weeks about this, I didn't do it. I now have so much more faith in myself and nothing can hold me back. Staying alert is very important, but I'm trying not to focus on the fact I used to be a smoker...I don't have time to think about that every second anymore :). It's just a....fact!

  12. Hi Doreen - 1/02/17 :)
  13. Hi Lisa, welcome!!!! First step for me was preparing. Throw out EVERYTHING (lighters, ash trays and any cigarettes) the night before. Only keep the few smokes you will need for the remainder of the night...rip the rest and throw away and bury in the trash so you are not tempted to smoke the nubs (which I've done) LOL. The next step is to commit to it. Tell yourself that no matter how bad it may get, no matter how much stress, how bad the cravings or any issues that pop up...YOU WILL NOT SMOKE. You are in total control and you are the only one that can make or break a quit. You can do this. On a side note, I used the patches to help....I'm almost two months smoke free now. They really worked for me. GOOD LUCK and post here frequently and read all you can. It really has made a huge difference this time for me.
  14. This is such a great slogan because it has to be true! Early in my previous quits (and even early in this one), I would think to myself "if I got lung cancer, or if someone I loved passed away, I would be lucky and have an excuse to smoke again." What kind of sicko thinks such a thing? I bet most, if not all of you, have had a similar thought (maybe not as morbid) but its the truth. The thing is, I no longer feel this way and there is NOTHING that can make me smoke again. I have all the control, even if the world fell to pieces, I wouldn't smoke because its not an award or something to reward yourself with. It's disgusting, it's harmful to not just you but others and most importantly......IT STINKS! NOPE!
  15. NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE and....NOPE
  16. Hi Cheryl, Glad you are here! Congrats on your decision to quit :) It's never too late or too many attempts! I rely heavily on herbal tea, something such as Celeste Sleepy Time tea...really helps calm everything down a bit. Also, Melatonin is a godsend if you need the extra push. It's a vitamin and does not make you feel groggy or anything in the morning.
  17. Hi there, Weird question. I am seeing that some members are rated on a 5 star system. Who rates members and how does that work? Also, I've noticed that my tag line has been changed from Member, to Advanced Member to Versed Member. Who does that and what do they mean? I'm so out of the know with this stuff LOL! Just want to know so I can participate further in the forum if I know what all the features are. Thank you so much for your help! J

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
