  1. You can do this with or without patches good sir :) The patches helped me at first but I then realized I have just as much strength without them. Keep up the great work!!!!

  9. I have a thing for this one clothing store in particular....I seem to be spending some of my saved money on new clothes....but, 1) they won't smell like cigarettes and 2) i deserve it and 3) my husband won't notice anyways LOL
  10. Hi there Doreen, Thanks for asking! Doing well this week. I am almost a full month....I can't believe it and feel better than I've ever felt. Last week was tough, but making it through proved to show me how much strength I have. At this time, I just stick really close to this site and read all the advice and kind words you all share with others. This seems to help me out a lot. I'm also still exercising and I truly think that is helping as well. Gives me something to do and helps motivate me to stay smoke free so I can actually inhale without wanting to die. PS. I've read about 10 books this month. It is nice to have something to do at night, in the morning or during commercials on tv. I will keep you all updated :)
  11. Thank you all! I made it through last week and this week seems to be off to a much better start. I too found that I am thankful every second I don't have to stand in the freezing cold to have a smoke. I went to eat with my husband last night and stepped over a huge pile of cigarettes laying in the parking lot and instantly thought, "I'm so proud that's not me anymore." Thanks for getting me through my difficult week. Keep on keeping on :)
  12. AWESOME!!!! :)
  13. Man, thank you guys! Just what I needed to hear. I've also heard about the evil threes...didn't even realize this is week three...oye! One day at a time! I was just do damn peppy and happy when I first quit LOL.....I think the true test is getting through the tough days. You guys are the best !
  14. Hi there :) So, it's been 24 days and some hours since my last smoke. The last three days have been really hard. I've made it through, but something inside my head changed, where my passion and new found energy disappeared to stay quit. I have thought a few times now "what would one hurt," knowing full well that it would hurt A LOT. I'm looking to you for support today, just to help me get through the cravings and bad moods. I go in spurts. Right now, I'm fine, but I've been getting crabby and short tempered and forgetting the reasons I quit in the first place. I have absolutely NO intention of smoking or going to buy a pack, but I could sure use a pat on the back from you all (because I'm a big ol baby today). Please help to remind me of all the amazing things about being a non-smoker and the backlash of failing. Thank you so much and I wish you all a wonderful weekend!! J
  15. Nik - 8 days is great! :) You can keep on keeping on! :)
  16. Hi Willy! You still with us? How's your quit going?
  17. Keep hiking! :) I think I'd rather do just about anything than hike 140 miles (such as eating a pizza, pile driving tacos, etc) but I love the jist of your post and agree, its all about the first steps. Keep at it!
  18. Hi ExTex! We can do this together!!!! I've found over the last few weeks that this is the place to be. At first, I thought that talking about smoking would make me want to smoke more. I just wanted to forget about those darn cigarettes all together. However, I've found that reading all the "senior non-smoker's" advice, watching videos and posting (even updating us on your mood for the day) makes an enormous difference and helps with cravings and bad thoughts. I think the biggest thing I've learned is to find something to do during down time. Read a book, catch a good TV series, get on this site, cook a large meal (or meal plan) or exercise. All of these have helped keep my hands and most importantly, my mind busy. I'm finding that things I didn't think would be fun without smoking (ice fishing, playing in the snow, being with friends, etc) are just as fun, if not more without having to stop every 15 minutes. There is no limit now to what you can do! You got this!!!!
  19. You can do this!!!! I tried quitting multiple times and will say that eventually, your head knows its time and when its THE TIME, the cravings are easier to handle because you know there is no going back. Instead of playing the game in your head "don't go buy a pack," tell yourself it's not even on the table! That helped me. It's not even up to discussion in my head because its not an option :). You got this lady! Keep at it! We can do it together!!
  20. Yes! And all food tastes better too. I can smell smoke on others at work that I never realized smoke...its quite impressive! :) My lungs still aren't letting me go as far as I'd like in the exercise world, but that will take some time. I know they are getting better slowly but surely. One other thing I've noticed already is that my veins are not as blue or pronounced. Especially in my arms and on my neck...they seem to have faded a bit..... Thanks for checking in on me!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
