That's exactly it LB, for me, no gym needed. Just so easy to open my door and go. I never ran in my spare time as a child (although was in the school athletic team) but I know what you mean about that 'rush'. I played out all the time, running around playing 'hares and hounds' like you say what a rush, what a high. I forgot all about that and am looking forward to that feeling. Will be like being young again ;)

Am I trying to quit.....or did I quit?
sharonsiff replied to Ladybug's topic in Quit Smoking Discussions
I would say you have stopped LB. No trying..the deed it done, you stopped and nothing else will happen, you stopped. Must have been a wonderful feeling when the peace of mind rushed over you, in that it was no hassle to say 'no thanks, don't want one' One of the best feelings in the world ;) -

Nice work there Jonny, you must be in fantastic physical and mental health with two positive changes. Made up for up. -

Decided to give running ago. Our Megz has said to start at 3 minutes in time and not to worry about distance and just build my time. So 3 minutes start time was her advice then each day to add 30 seconds. I am actually looking forward to it as I need something to re divert my compulsive, addictive nature. At least this way two birds with one stone....health and a sense of well being/purpose. How's everyone else getting on with their running?

Oh I know....Alpha Wolf, otherwise known as my dad my end..lol I really am finding this info just fascinating. I have gone back to chapter 3 my end, need to re read as my mind struggles to remember and retain. You know one of my daughters, the athlete, has Alpha wolf tendencies....sos!....onwards and upwards. -

Babs, Stu....How's it going with the book? I am still enjoying it and have found myself feeling different already. I am able to diffuse a run in between the girls in a quarter of the time! I can see them going into chimp mode...head to head... really am getting a lot out of this book. I re read pg 52..The Chimp Makes An Offer....put me in mind of when folk use the phrase nicodemon. I also see now that from past attempts to quit my main failure was the chimp hijacking and that you do NOT have to follow your emotions/impulses...it's only an offer and not a command. Obviously in June I did not give in to the chimp, instead managed it, but wouldn't have been able to explain to someone that as I didn't realise that, that, was what was happening. -
You did smashing Evelyn.... The crave comes from the same section as impulse and emotion (among other things) and you beautifully refused....you turned what first feels like a command into a logical choice of NOPE. I don't know if in the past you run off emotions and impluses? I know I did, and if you did too you have proved you can take calm logical control and NOPE. You must be both very pleased and proud. How's things now? Are you busy enjoying the company of your friend?

This is excellent!

Happy Easter, hope everyone is having a lovely day.

Good....next time accept the crave, it's real...then call time if it lasts more than 10 mins, be strict with your mind, tell it 'I am no longer prepared to feel like this, distract or reward. You've got this Evelyn ;)

Wow Doreen and Action...you must be made up! I tell yer Doreen/ Action, the phycologist behind your team was the one behind team GB cycling team...and Ronnie O Sullivan (snooker world champ?) Mark my words the other teams will be fighting for him. Lovely to see a Northwest team up there and it not be Manchester United..yawn... ;) (be a long time before it's Bolton Wanderers, if ever :()

It's funny but I can carry out a contract I made to myself soon. Way back last August, at the height of physical withdrawal I told myself...keep going girl, don't look back, next spring you will be able to book a family holiday. Mid May the prices come out for 2015 so I can confidently book, knowing I have the three thousand not going to be spent on smoking to go towards it. Exciting times.....

Are you ok now Evelyn? I read a crave lasts no more than ten minutes, after that it is to do with the actual thought process. So, manage your mind if it happens again, call time on it and say..no, actually this is no longer a crave, this is my thought process...then change it.
