  1. Vent and get it all out.... Just don't smoke as I'm sure you won't. No doubt your pissed because you found it easy and this thought has annoyed the lifebout of you, it happens to the best of em Rachel. Once you've calmed down do will do the truthful, honest self talk. Vent...then be calm to self talk.
  2. A right blast from my past...love it
  3. 5 fabulous months....for a fabulous person.
  4. Great list Julie...loving the nostalgia :) I remember nearly wetting myself with excitement listening to the radio. Sitting, hoping, crossing fingers that my favourite song would come one. No YouTube (although I love that) but more the excitement when your favourite chart hit came on. I would be on tender hooks waiting for them to play ABBA or David Cassidy. Then the weekly treat of a show called Top Of The Pops...the excitement of actually seeing them! Then last, but not least, the Sunday chart show BBC1 radio. O.M.G....was religion to me to sit there from 5pm till 7pm and listen (and prance about singing) the whole top 20. Loved it!
  5. Ahh, thanks Sarge. I get it now...takes a while ;) So it's what EB was talking about then, the run and walk plan. Yes....this sounds right up my street. Smashing....am good to go now I have The Plan.
  6. Sarge.... It is no doubt under my nose but I just can't seem to find 'the plan' It says, tip 7, about not running everyday when following the plan so if you get a minute would you giving me 'the plan' link. Thanks :)
  7. Good stuff Evelyn ;) Be three weeks before you know it :) Really proud of you xx
  8. Try not to worry Action, easy for me to say I know. Soon be this time next week and the waiting will all be over xx
  9. Thanks Tracey :) Just done my 3:30 time and feel good, a bit out of breath, but good. I did find if I concentrated I could breath in through my nose. Only when I stopped thinking about it I got breathless. Will just remember to concentrate better on that tom for the 4 minutes.
  10. Thanks very much for the link Sarge, have just book marked it. Will read the tips for new runners. Just got in from work and gone straight out for me 3:30 time. That will be my habit I think, in then straight out. Feel good a rush like feeling...feels good.
  11. Evelyn Off to have a shower and watch some tv so....hope you have things to keep you occupied tonight, hope you enjoy your evening and be proud of another day under your belt :) See ya tomorrow xx
  12. Oh yes, home before the street lights come on, I remember that! Like most I never dared test the waters, not that I'd get a smack....much, much worse conciseness. Mine would be not being able to sleep at my nanny's on the Friday and Saturday. Only ever happened once in my whole childhood and it really was lesson learnt. Do you remember building dens and swinging on a homemade rope swing over streams. Nat bites everywhere but we never so much as batted an eyelid did we? Then learning to do the 'double dutch' skipping craze. We really did have a wonderful time as kids didn't we? Mind you my two have only just stopped playing out at 14.
  13. For sure LB ;) Am even going to do it if it rains....only rain.
  14. Aww yes, them were the days. Parents only saw us when our hungry bellies sent us home, to recharge. Such fabulous days.
  15. Ramblings....getting it off your chest does help very much it seems. I come from a 'stiff upper lip, head down & crack on' family so never understood the value of 'getting things off your chest and then your able to think them through and act on the legitimate points' Once you've got it off your chest, uninterrupted, we are able to be in a position to recieve information, and can address our fears and and concerns by calm, truthful self talk. So ramble away when you need to Evelyn as it will be doing your new none smoking self the world of good.
  16. Oh how wonderful that they will be so wrong eh Jackie ;)
  17. Hi EB No I haven't seen that. Mind you my phone has no Internet connection (long story) so is that something you would have downloaded to your phone when running? If yes then a no go for me till October when my contact renews.
  18. And no wonder Evelyn, your brain chemistry is coping without nicotine and friends. It will talk to you often probably, no matter as it's trying to offer you a soultion (give me what I am used to having) only an offer...not a command. Hold tight to that part Evelyn, that it's never a command. Also be realistic in that once the nicotine has gone is when the brain is repairing, so offers will come you way. You are quit so no matter what offer you get blast it with truths and logic ;)
  19. First day a 3 minute run. Haven't run since playing out as a child so started small. Was enough for day one. Must remember in through the nose! Breathing went wrong. 3 minutes 30 seconds tomorrow, same pace to a further place.
  20. If you can Evelyn try and think 'I am strong' if you get rid of the word 'going' it makes it less that things can change, it removes the 'well it's ok for now' get out clause we used to give ourselves. Evelyn I don't know if your waiting for something to happen? That was my problem in previous quits, waiting for something to happen. If that is what you feel like, in limbo, then set yourself a few things to do. Obviously the normal day to day tasks are waiting to be done but try and add a treat task. I don't know what you consider a treat task but there must be something you enjoy that can refocus your mind, distract you. Mine would be de heading my spring pot plants with my music playing. Life is carrying on as normal around you so engage in pleasures and distractions. You really can and are doing this Evelyn, you already stopped smoking...be proud, be very proud.
  21. You can already you know Amy because you have stopped already. You honestly will start to feel more comfortable and it will be less, and less of what can feel like a mental battle. Make the choice to stay 'stopped' and the mental ease/peace of mind will become your new normal very soon too. :)
  22. I am so pleased for you as you are embracing the new normal, your new fabulous normal.
  23. You must be absolutely made up Paul....congratulations :)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
