  2. No matter what, that really is the only way Evelyn. Have a great day and keep yourself busy xx
  3. Love a bit of Elvis! Used to love singing this one, as a kid http://youtu.be/9f_MWG4ToJs
  4. Evelyn Tomorrow please commit to Nope, no matter how you are feeling. I just added a thread on motivation v commitment as that might help you, hopefully.
  5. Sad to see you go :(, you remind me of Mr Miyagi (karake kid) of the stop smoking world. Good for you though, things to do...things to see...life to live. Hope you have a wonderful time and have many projects to keep you happy xx
  6. Just read this and thought it might help those on day 1, or early in their quit. Motivation is a feeling based on emotion. Motivation generally happens when there is a great reward to gain or when you are suffering so bably that you want things to change. Motivation is helpful to drive us on but it is not essential to success. It is unrealistic to expect to 'feel motivated' every day, no matter what you are doing. The problem with motivation is that it works on feelings and emotions, and these can shift very quickly. Commitment, on the other hand, comes from logic and truth and does not depend on feelings. Commitment means following a plan even if you don't feel like it everyday. For example, a surgeon can't say halfway through an operation, ' Do you know I just don't feel motivated to finish this, so I'll stop now!' Motivation doesn't matter, it is commitment that will finish the operation. So commit yourself to NOPE , finish operation non smoker :)
  7. Aww Annael, your wedding? How wonderful. I do hope you both practice this, for your wedding guests ;) Nobody puts our Annael in a corner ;)
  8. Soozie....is it because you have 'bad imput/gremlins' in your mind? That you, Soozie, will just buckle under the busy period and the fact the world and his wife will be smoking around you? That was me....once upon a time....pop some new imput in your mind Soozie. Plan, that when it all feels like it's getting too much you will NOPE and ? ( insert your own plan) write the plan down Soozie, read it every hour from now, make it second nature that you are solid on the plan of action. Soozie, did you know that when you have a positive thought the blood rushes to that side of the brain? Positive plans, and thinking, are nature's own medicine in times when we need it. Make your plan, write it down, make it something that you accept as true and reasonable (don't try and trick yourself) Please just trust that you 'Soozie' can NOPE.
  9. I remember that Soozie! Babs sent you mine...rofl...yes I remember ;)
  10. Soozie, maybe write yourself a 'are you kidding me!' Letter here, on this thread. So when it seems to be mentally a bit 'how's yer father ;)' you have it here, something you wrote when of sound, unstressed mind.
  11. Make lists of the things you 'must' do Soozie. Keep busy, keep very busy. Ask yourself if you would get a million pound to do the task ahead would you do it? If yes then crack on and do it...please don't let the fact your detoxing put your life on hold, will make it worse. No matter what Soozie don't smoke!. The only reason you feel like this is because of the damage cigarettes do, not because you can't have one. Keep busy, don't allow the dread to take over. Get planning that fabulous seventies party ;)
  12. Would love to be 20 again dancing to this in a nightclub, my living room will have to do ;)
  13. Amy....am gutted that you are back to day one. You must just crack on Amy, no matter what, and remove smoking as an option to end the physical and mental craving. I swear, you have my word, that if you crack on with it that it really does become normal not to want to smoke...I swear. Vent...cry...cheer...dance....whatever you need to do but just don't smoke xx
  14. It wasn't me nana! http://youtu.be/di-10upaFok
  15. Oh I remember searching the garage floor for dockers....well it wasn't a real full cig was it?, didn't count....oh the things I would do and tell myself ;)
  16. My arms ached for about 3 months Aine, stopped just before Autumn. It felt like flu type aches but I didn't have a virus. Noticed it more late afternoon....just stopped aching one day, never to return.
  17. I don't parallel park, will park 6 streets (blocks) away and walk before I put myself through sweaty betty worry of that lark! ;) Today....put £50 away towards the 1D concert (treat the girls to merchandise) so it was lovely to put it away, the old me would waste it on cigs...boom!
  18. Hope you have a wonderful time Tracey...enjoy London ;)
  19. Sorry to hear this Jackie :) Hope your infection clears up soon and you start to feel pain free.
  20. Love a bit of romantic mush ;)
  21. Although it rained most of the morning I got my washing dried and ironed....boom!
  22. So glad that you're doing this Amy. You're right, it's tough at times...vent when you feel like this and distraction, distraction, distraction! When it feels tough just remind yourself that you feel like shite, not because you can't smoke, but because you DID start to smoke. That turned my thinking round no end, saw it as a war I would not lose. The book, read with an open mind. It will put new, true habit ideas in your head so if you feel like crap search your head for the new, true information, it really does help. Your crave/feeling can then pass and you are left about the truth about smoking and can really help with the peace of mind. I am so pleased for you Amy, you so deserve this. If I can do it anyone can ;)
  23. So glad you quit....many more decades ahead for you now ;)
  24. 2 months, already!...just wow....congratulations Lace :)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
