  1. You have fabulous quit Barb, a beacon of light to those in the early stages no doubt. Bordem accounts for a lot of the mind games for many no doubt, I know it did for me in my past.
  2. Thank you Doreen, that's very kind of you xx
  3. That was the question our Megan asked me on Sunday. We treated the girls to a day out in London yesterday (to celebrate good news! :)) and they were around smokers. That does not happen in their day to day life as our circle are all non or never smokers. She caught me watching a lady and assumed I was looking, in envy? A bit like she maybe checks out someone wearing the latest fashion item. I was watching the lady, I was watching and thinking you are like a robot, no feeling, just topping up the levels your body expects from the tobacco smoke. I wasn't , and am not judging the lady. Been there myself for 30 years and it would make me a hypocrite. No, I was watching her and thinking- oh my life, that used to be me! Thank goodness that was my past and not my current, or future. When I told Megan that I was just people watching (I love doing this) she smiled and said " thought so, you'll never want to smoke a dirty cig again, will you" She knows me so well :) If you're reading this and are in the position of still looking at folk with envy, fear not and hang tough. I was in envy for quite sometime myself last year. It does change and you just cross, mentally, the other side.
  4. Del looked great and I passed on your best wishes to him. The doctor has told him that the bone marrow was 100% cancer free! Tears of joy as you can imagine! Obviously something is very much out of whack so Wednesday investigations take place, so that's good that they are going to get to the bottom of what keeps making him very ill. Things will finally get sorted for Del :)
  5. Hi Jackie. Sorry to read about your family circumstances, hope you are ok. Good job getting yourself to the doctors, anything to protect your next and sticky quit. Cheering you on from the back. I've no doubt once the champix does it's stuff and gets your mind peaceful you'll stomp through this, your sticky quit.
  6. Very well done Sandy, head down and crack on :)
  7. Congratulations on your 3 months, fabulous :)
  8. Great job Naynay, so pleased and proud for you xx
  9. Thank you Doreen, will do he will smile at that. Doreen you might be able to help in a way? Was it you that mentioned your Tony had asbestos on his lung, or have I got Tony mixed up with someone else? I only ask as they found that on his lung, about six weeks ago ( he fell through his garage roof over 40/50 years ago) they did find it but said it was nothing to be concerned about at the moment. I only ask as Lee and I where just talking and said he wondered if any of this was due to that?
  10. Thanks Petra The good news is Barb turned up today and he is sitting up talking, huge progress! He is having a camera down his lungs next week so they can see what's going on. So will be in at least another week which at least means he is in good hands. His heart is under constant monitoring too. Still no definite answer of why the white blood cells dropped to 2 though. Hopefully, this week, it will all come together to see what's going on. Del is like the cat with 9 lives, thank goodness. Been given the ok tomorrow to visit him.
  11. Congratulation Tracey, am so proud to know someone like you xx
  12. Happy Birthday Rez, fingers crossed it's not shepherds pie for your birthday tea. However you celebrate it I hope you have a good one.
  13. Yes, come and join the rest of us who like you smoked and now happily don't . We have been exactly where you are......
  14. Chrys for some it does seem like the first 6 months are tough.I found it a real battle not to smoke in those months, I honestly did. Chrys I cried a lot and found it helped to vent, on the forum I was using. I also found those very strong 'urges' did just stop, like that, just stopped. I also found around the time they stopped, December, was when the night sweats stopped and my periods came back after not having any for 5 months. I don't know if any of that is going on your end? Bear in mind I had bloods done, months after, and no sign of being pre menapousal showed up in the results. Something goes on inside for some of us Chrys and I think you made the right move protecting your quit, and visiting your doctor. I don't have the answer, who does? But let's hope one day the spend money on research to see what is going on, so it can help others not relapse.
  15. Education yes, I remember this- yuck!
  16. I only waited due to fear, fear of past attempts being so extremely unpleasant. Head down and crack on, if in he'll keep walking I say- you will reach the other side. If past attempts have not been extremely unpleasant and no more than a little crave here and there then what the hell are you waiting for? Christmas? Head down and crack on.
  17. Petra is sooooo right! Best thing I ever did, ever!
  18. Congratulations on 10 fabulous months :)
  19. Goodness me, what a scare. Thank goodness you're ok and wise move...smell the burgers just don't eat them. Look after your health, so precious.
  20. If the time came and you couldn't face it- been there done that as many others have, I'm sure. If it's that then post and say who are we to judge, we can at least get you talking it through. If it's not that and you have just not fancied coming on after your final cig then ignore the above and well done, not let's help you to maintain this quit. Either way post if you get a minute to spare.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
