  1. Only 9 to go? Fabulous news DD...absolutely fabulous!
  2. This is great news! I imagine, from reading your OP, that her going days smoke free is a big thing, huge in fact. She must be over the moon. Even if she is in fact just trading one type of addiction for another Sarge she is currently cig free. Opens the door for her to see for herself, in a calmly fashion, that she in turn can be free of it all. I haven't used the cig a like types myself but do know, from experience, that the PV type ones are pretty straight forward in executing an total escape. Obviously if that turns out to be her plan.
  3. Thank you so much guys Am looking forward to getting back into the thick of it, with you all. I have missed you all, I really have.
  4. Merry Christmas Beth...have a good one xx
  5. Hi all Hope you are all well. Have been busy as a bee helping my MIL collect evidence to deal with the multitude of errors during Del Boys hospital stay, that lead to his death. We are making fabulous progress so that's wonderful. It doesn't bring Del back, we know, but it might stop it happening to someone else. I am sorry for all the milestones I have missed and welcoming all the newbies to the quit train, feel out the loop ...but... Once New Year is here am a bit more free to come back and hang with you guys, can't wait! My second smoke free Christmas already! Just fabulous, truly is and I still have to pinch myself and be in sheer joy that I finally ticked off my biggest main bucket list item...to stop smoking and be happy to no longer smoke...just simply fabulous. I hope you all enjoy your smoke free Christmas and if anyone reading is not enjoying the thrones of withdrawal just remember it really will not feel like this forever, just hang onto that truth...and this time next year you will be celebrating your second smoke free Christmas...remember that xx
  6. Just popped on to wish Action a happy one year mark. Hope you guys are all well and Dandy. Haven't posted on any forum since Del Boys death, haven't been in the mood for it really so just stay on my FB with my family and best friends. Nothing happened here that gave me the hump or anything it's just am not in the right mind for commitment to anything other than household tasks and work. So as I say a big fat hi and keep that quit xxx
  7. Oh my life, just checked the date and remembered you! A year already, how fabulous Action. Lots and lots of congratulations and celebrations to you
  8. Del Boy passed away this afternoon. Devastated is an understatement to be honest. Don't really know what else to say other than thanks ever so much for all your best wishes and support. Cherish each other and live each day like it's your last xx
  9. Guys...he got rushed back in hospital Monday night. It has been an horrific few days! Phone went at 1:30am last night, he was in a bad way and had , had 3 siezures. Seemingly, for the last 6 weeks Del has had blood poisoning (ecoli in his blood stream) hence the heart issues, the pneumonia, the black bruises from the low white blood cells. It is a wonder it didn't kill him to be honest! Have just got home and he is stable, heavily sedated but stable. He has had an injection to sort his heart out again and is obviously now on a drip with the medication going through that will hopefully kill the poison. Already I could see his colour coming back in his cheeks. So...hopefully now he will actually get better as they know what they are treating, finally! Just wanted to fill you all in as you have been so lovely and supportive. Will get back on here properly once I am of calm mind that he is 100% in the clear. Take care, keep well and cherish your good health xx
  10. Marti, you mentioned silvers running through your theme? Or I may have read it wrong. Check out this colour for your TV cabinet, beautiful. Imagine that against the back drop of a white wall, the fab purples. It's egg shell too so is hard wearing and not glossy. http://www.farrow-ball.com/cornforth-white/colours/farrow-ball/fcp-product/100228
  11. He's home! OMG, he is home and it is brilliant! It seems the tablets treating the pneumonia knocked him out, as Barb had thought. So, it seems that as a day patient he will be having appointments to fully investigate his kidneys- that is where the trouble lies, so they think. So made up that he's home as you can imagine. Just thought it good manners to pop on and tell you...oh, and since we last spoke I did that flipping ice bucket challenge...lol
  12. Thank you my lovely Marti, I will xx
  13. I have fabulous news! Yesterday Del was fit enough to walk Barb to the end of the ward and kiss her goodbye, just brilliant. The doctors are happy with his progress and have promised to get to the bottom of what keeps knocking his body 'out of whack' I feel light as a feather now the worry has gone so am going to get in my garage and crack on with my painting furniture hobby. Thank you ever so much everyone for all your support and well wishes, it has made me feel better to be able to voice my feelings and fears, to get them off my chest. Off to enjoy myself and get my paint brushes out.....
  14. Bought some really cheap pieces of furniture to pant up, and sell on. So switching off for a week or two while I crack on. Congratulations in advance to any milestones reached ;)

  15. What a carry on Wendy! ...most excitement we get down our lane is the farmer going pasts on his tractor ;) So what do you think you were craving? Was it a cig Was it a puff on the ecig? You say you use a 2mg strength, so was it the actual very low dose nicotine or just the association of the lung fill feeling, that you associate with a reward/pleasure? If I don't reply again tonight it's only because time is ticking on in the UK, my pillow is calling my name.
  16. So very happy for you Lace, congratulations xx
  17. Interesting topic. I had the doctor say exactly the same to me Chrys, back in May. I needed to see him and we discussed my stopping cigs the June before. I told him since I saw the last doctor (check up last Oct) that I was free of the eig. He told me, and made me promise never to smoke a cigarette again, he had me attend the practise quit smoking clinic for the last 14 years. He could not stress enough the importance of never putting tobacco smoke back in my body, but, did say if ever I felt on edge to use my ecig. He went onto explain the huge difference between the two. At first it annoyed me that he would think I would crave a cig! Then, reality kicked in and to be fair my past 14 year history had given him every reason to think that I might go back to my old ways. So I see what he meant, if I was in fact in a position of calling it at day, and stopping this quit then better that than a cigarette. I understood his logic. Luckily over a year on thoughts sort of thoughts no longer exist for me- that thought ship has sailed. Interestingly though, I notice that they have increased the time to safely use NRT. I think it was to six months on one of the Patches sites I read a few months ago? That leads me to believe, that for some people, the current 3 months in the UK May not be enough? I say this purely because my personal experience was the cigarette craves stopped after 6 months, my body seemed to return to normal (night sweats stopped/periods came back) and that was when I knew I was over the ciggy withdrawal and cracked on with ridding myself of nicotine. I think anyone in serious risk of a relapse should consult with their doctor and talk through their options.
  18. And the most exciting part of the holiday.... Our visit to this fabulous water park. I have never been on a waterslide and thought I was on a roller coaster before going here, just amazing!
  19. I found this guys, a short video of my hotel and surrounding area. I will look at this very often and get that thrill in my tummy, that I'm going back real soon.... It sticks a little bit during the pool since, click and it starts up again.
  20. Hello and welcome brilliant intro, I'm going to enjoy reading you I can tell :)
  21. Feels priceless to me, I still have to pinch myself at times and think " did I actually ever smoke?" Fabulous feeling :)
  22. Oh Wendy, I'm made up! (action, you're right!) You have come to a great place here Wendy, like Nancy said just post away. I really don't think you'll have much trouble living without your back up plan you know, once you have a few times that you don't reach for it. Overjoyed that you are here and I love it that I can see your beautiful face. Xx edit: Sorry, in my excitement I forgot to say a big congratulations on your day two, fabulous! Can I ask Wendy? I read about vapers who have the odd cig, here and there, are they say it tastes like crap and they put it out half way. Did you have that experience? One man, Wendy, he goes to Paris once a year on business. He wrote that he packs one cig to sit and have with his coffee and pastry. He went on to say he only manages three pulls then puts it out, but does this every year. I can only think it must be an event that he is attached to, and has to go through? Just goes to show the power of the mind. I would rather pack an extra pair of shoes ;)
  23. Thank you very much DD, will give it a go later. I just assumed I could click and paste like on a lap top...I really am a techno dinosaur. He won two pads DD, on Twitter. It was a Eon energy completion and was simply a case of picking someone as random, no skill involved. He has been very lucky on there! That was were he won his four day trip to Brazil, for the World Cup competition.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
