  1. Happy New Year guys. Hopefully you have something to look forward to this year, if not change it so you do I say. Looking forward to Tenerife and booking up Puerto Del Carmen (Mexico) in May, for next year. Keeps me going...what keeps you going through the cold and frosty mornings?
  2. Doreen I bet you couldn't believe that he even doubted your quit! I'm seriously offended now by the smell of stale smoke on people's clothes. It turns my stomach when I'm stood next to somebody in a supermarket queue. To this day I will never, ever, understand my husband putting up with me smelling like that. He has never smoked and it must have been deeply offensive. Kissing too, I mean can you imagine kissing somebody and getting both the smell and taste. Yuck...must be true love for him to tolerate that. Just a pity we lose of sense of smell when we smoked as I'm sure the stench of stale smoke would half put a lot of us off.
  3. Really enjoying this, anybody else watching and enjoying it?
  4. Seriously if you're reading this just get it done, crack on, you only have to do it the once if you're serious and want freedom. You'll have Spring Turning your heating off Shoes with no socks Holiday And being free of the smoking slavery to enjoy next year if you do. I hope that you do....
  5. Chilled Boxing Day in our gaff. Lee and the girls have gone to work, Barb is watching Call The Midwife, I've just peeled and steaming some spuds..ready for dinner later. Looking forward to having everyone home (Lee in at 9:30) and chilling out together watching Mrs Browns Boys. Girls 17th birthday tomorrow.
  6. My dad rang from the Internet cafe just after dinner. Having a great time out there however the weather isn't its usual best. Still...I'd rather be there. Cook the turkey today, peel veg and drop the girls off to their Saturday jobs. Must get the prawns out of the freezer too! It's the little things like that, that I forget. Have a great day whatever you are all doing.
  7. Sounds fabulous Rex, as you say how fabulous and special as it's your first one together...and as man and wife, just beautiful. Lee has finished work and on his way to pick his mother up, she's staying with us the year. My parents are in a Tenerife for another eight weeks so will no doubt get a phone call from them. All together for Christmas Eve and our tradition of Chinese take away and secret Santa. Boxing Day onwards Lee, and the girls, are back off to work so will be making the most of the time we are all together. Just made a shepherds pie (Tracey may have made you one?) for dinner when Barb turns up.
  8. Anyone of you today. House is all up straight and ready for Christmas. Drinks for folk who want one and soft drinks for the rest of us. House smells lush (wax melts) and plenty of sweet/savoury nibbles out on the side in the dining room. So anyone's welcome...and the beauty is I don't have to politely mention it's a non smoking house....as none of you do. Perfect.
  9. It sure does, that's for sure. Mind you I don't mind going back....means I have more cash saved for my holiday, Tenerife. Can't wait!
  10. Quitting for the first time and only time? Folk on here have and succeeded. Many failed attempts behind you? Make this the sticky quit, many on here have. The joy of finally being free is truly priceless...give yourself that gift.
  11. We should Doreen...we most certainly should.
  12. I can remember my elders telling me that, they said that you were also so grateful to get an orange in your stocking. Doreen Roller Stakes..fab present. Got mine at twelve, mind mine were Roller boots (for my birthday) I would imagine I was Torval and Dean (ice skaters) but on stakes..rollling round the pavements. Wasn't it fab when we played out, I want to be able to play out again...lol
  13. Merry Christmas guys...won't be long now. Have a fabulous time with those you love, and great food.
  14. Awww how lovely and fab thinking to add the cat food too, I can imagine you thinking..cat food, don't think so..lol
  15. I've just thought of another omg I'm so lucky, can't believe it present. My beloved Tiny Tears dolly, oh I so loved playing mummy to my dolls. It's so funny as one of my grandparents died have a telephone, didn't want one. So my grandparents wouldn't know what the other was getting me. That year I got two Tiny Tears dolls..twins...went on to have twins, at least I'd had a good few years practise. Was so lucky too as both my nannies would knit the dolls clothes.
  16. Good choice not smoking...fabulous choice.
  17. Just think the Christmas jumper won't still of stale cigs..best Christmas jumper ever!
  18. Brilliant Evelyn keep up the good work.
  19. Thanks Evelyn, it's so very sad now as I've lost trust in my doctor. They are tough cookies...I'm very proud.
  20. Proud of you too...keep safe and hopefully you will be re housed early next year, or the aggressive trouble makers will be gone. I can tell you feel secure as had you not been that would have seemed like your perfect example to say "was too stress, I smoked" so well done on being so determined and mentally strong not to.
  21. Will do, and I'd meet you then I can hold your gun...not shoot it mind you, just have a hold.
  22. Thank you and they sure are.
  23. That's a lovely gift and as you say hopefully one you can pass on. Mine was a record player, early eighties, really love music so to be able to play my own choice of music was just wonderful. I was so happy and so grateful.
  24. Thanks both Doreen and Joe, you're right Joe they do...too fast.
  25. My girls will be seventeen already, honestly doesn't seem five minutes ago since they were seven. Both happy hard working young ladies, both have got Saturday jobs. Will both be working over the Christmas period, and their birthday, which will seem strange them not being around. Both had a great year as they had their GCSE exams, in Summer, worked hard and both got eleven GCSE passes each. So proud and pleased about their work ethic. Lucy was finally diagnosed with Thyroid issues late Summer, after me having a few run ins with the doctor. Bloods revealed the problem, on medication and now like a totally different person...amazing. Guys, don't be fobbed off by your doctor, like I was for years, the old 'it's a teenage thing' Both starting driving lessons next year..gulp...excited for them though too. Love them both so much and just can't believe where the years have gone.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
