  3. Should I Reset My Quit Meter ? Yes. This not only holds you accountable to yourself it helps us to know where you are in your quit and provide appropriate information. I Know I Will Quit Again Some people don't get the chance to quit again. We are dealing with life and death. Get Right Back In The Saddle Is Relapsing On Nicotine A Good Learning Experience ? The point that runs through all these videos is to take your quit seriously, take your life seriously. Being cavalier about relapse is incredibly dangerous. There Is No Legitimate Reason For Relapse Considering your previous relapse on Halloween and now, this current relapse, I hope you take time and avail yourself of these resources.   8. Hey Mighty One, I am so glad to hear your quit is going so well ! I have no experience with 'contact every day' other than the general public smokers I daily walk by, feeling compassion for them and incredibly grateful that I quit and haven't the tiniest shard of a crave or trigger to smoke. Time is our friend, in this case. Here are some resources from our friend, Joel Spitzer, that addresses this issue How Can I Quit If I Live With A Smoker I understand that many of the points he brings up are not applicable to you. I just hope by posting, others with similar circumstances will benefit.
  9. What made you throw away a 30 day quit ? Did you think a cigarette would fix something or give you an 'ahhh' moment ? Change your quit date to acknowledge your new quit and have a think about why you relapsed, why you made the choice to smoke. Educate yourself about nicotine addiction, you need to have these resources at your fingertips. Good for you for getting back on a quit asap. This is exactly the right move. Think about what our friend, Sirius, asks, "The next time a craving plunks down on your face ask yourself, "What price you are willing to pay to own yourself?"

  11. To hear this from a new quitter is v. inspiring to me and the best part of hanging out here, watching the beautiful transformations. Because acknowledgement of addiction is seminal to a successful quit, to see you, @Old Man Coffee, understand that addiction 'will always be with us' and begin to reap the benefits of your freedom shows what a successful quit you are building. Kuddos ! A zillion kuddos. The desire will fade and fade and fade as each crave/trigger is conquered but, we must always understand that addiction can be re-ignited with one puff. " It is something we didn't just experiment with, we are addicts. These words sound discouraging, but to me they are the opposite" The empowerment bestowed by putting our addiction to sleep is extremely encouraging. Thank you for the great post, Old Man Coffee.

  14. Congratulations on your quit, @Luckyquitter and welcome to the QTrain. The most important thing you can do to build a successful quit is to learn all you can about addiction. When you do, I bet the fantasy you harbor about being able to quit with no consequences will evaporate. Who would choose slavery over freedom ? and slavery to Big Tobacco is particularly onerous.
