  7. Tofu is great. It doesn't really taste of anything but, picks up flavors from the saute or the soup or the gravy etc. Here is a decent description and some pretty good recipes from the BBC and some things I do with it. Firm Tofu, drain, pat dry, sauté in olive oil with some garlic until hot put into a bowl then put some good soy sauce in the hot pan.....sizzle sizzle...a little balsamic vinegar maybe, reduce it for a minute Put into the bowl of sautéd tofu and sprinkle a bunch of nutritional yeast over it. Good with quinoa. Some veg. or cube it, sauté a bit and put it into a soup or stew. sauté-ing helps it hold together better. I use soft tofu and throw it in a smoothie for a protein punch or put in in a blender with a little stock for a protein packed thickened gravy, the whizzed up tofu does the thickening in a creamy way. I love my steel cut oats. Nut butters. Complex carbs. OMG have your tried Forbidden, Black Rice ? Protein packed, super nutritious and puts white and brown rice to shame. yep, organic meats are really good, really really good and since I don't indulge that often the price works out. I love all the beans. Sometimes I cook my lentils in coconut milk. Have you had the Black 'caviar' Lentils ? OMG, they are amazing ! Sorry, I am going on. Must be HUNGRY. Oh ! Happy Birthday !   12. ^^^^^^^ everything Boo said. We all identified ourselves as Smokers. It was an extension of ourselves and many have fears about who they will change into. They won't be themselves anymore. The thing is, you get so much closer to yourself, so much more in tune and earn a trust and respect in yourself that you never can know as an active addict. 'Oh, the Things You Will See ! ' and feel with a sincere honesty, a new belief in yourself. You will learn about your power and how to use it.   13. You are absolutely correct it is addiction talking. Here are some more examples of that Red Flags, be sure and add your own to that thread, B ! You are doing great, I know you are in the throes of withdrawal. Hang in there, it gets better. So much better.
  14. I don't eat red/white meat every day, sometimes not for weeks/months. I eat a lot of beans, tofu, fresh veg, fruit, nuts, some grains. Not much cheese. I always have eggs, rarely pasta, never white rice (Black rice is the ticket ! ) I also eat fish, mostly local redfish and shrimp. Then, I must make a Gumbo or a Chicken Liver Pate or a big ol pork chop and when I do, I try to source locally raised and organic meats. It tastes so much better. You have to be mindful of nutrition eating a completely plant based diet. Which is important to know about anyway. yum Thai curries ! also good with tofu.

  16. I am pretty sure, Linda means Rhino. Reci hasn't relapsed. A relapse isn't just a 'slip' or an accident. Relapses are conscious choices to re-introduce an addictive substance (nicotine) into the body and must be taken very, very seriously. Words That Translate To Relapse Here are more, Red Flags

  24. The anticipation causes more stress and doubt than the do-ing, B. You will be fine. Sure, there may be some grimy moments but, nothing you cannot handle. You are smarter than this addiction. For sure. I look forward to seeing your NOPE in the morning.
  25. Welcome to the site, @Butterfly ! It sounds like you have done some preparation for your quit. Good on you ! Education about nicotine addiction is essential in building a sturdy, successful quit. I am glad you have been availing yourself to Joel Spitzer's Quitting Library. He helped me, especially in the early days of my quit, and I continue to use his resources, I have learned so much from him. I notice you are planning to quit on February 29. This is a leap year, you know, lol. There won't be another February 29th for four years. Maybe you should quit NOW. Tonight ! on February 28th so we can celebrate your first year Nicotine Free on February 28, 2021. I look forward to getting to know you and watching you build your quit.
