  5. I always have emergency supplies. After living through Katrina and 13 days afterwards, I understand how important supplies are. Glad you and Sugar Britches and Maddie May and Cash are prepared.
  6. I just unpacked a delivery of NEW RAT TRAPS, a BIG BUCKET OF POISON and I AM VERY HAPPY. The people at my mail joint were laughing at the murderous dark side of my exuberance. Tra La La La La, A Ratting We Will Go
  7. Welcome Acewhite, Congratulations on making the decision to quit smoking and put your addiction to sleep. The way to freedom lies in making the commitment to NOPE (Not One Puff Ever) and holding fast to that commitment. Etch it into your brain. The 'love' you may feel for nicotine is a lie. This is not 'love', it is simply a lie of addiction. Please educate yourself about nicotine addiction. This will help you on the journey. We have a plethora of resources here so, read, read, read and watch the scary movies. This thread may be helpful 10 Ways To Effectively Use This Forum To Stop Using Nicotine

  9. This is great support, Irene. Newbies can help eachother so much.
  10. You can't hurt the 'niceness here at QT'. Be yourself, express yourself, there are readers who will appreciate your honesty. Quitting is serious business and some of it can be downright gnarly. The important thing is to nurture yourself, be kind to yourself and accentuate the positive. You are addressing your addiction and making yourself a healthier and happier being. You will be shining very very soon, hang in there and remember to stand by your commitment to yourself, to NOPE...you will never have to go through this again. Acknowledge The Negative But, Dwell On The Positive I wanted to mention that you can download Joel Spitzer's free Ebook. It isn't a huge file and then you can read it w/out it affecting your data. Never Take Another Puff
  11. Congratulations on your quit, @darcy. The early days may be gruesome but, nothing you cannot handle. As you conquer each crave/trigger reward yourself with something, this could be a small purchase or even a thought that brings you joy...a bath, a walk...a nap. We are behind you, cheering wildly. We LOVE quitters.
  12. You can be exuberantly PROUD of yourself ! You are not 'giving up' anything except slavery, illness and a possibly horrifying death. You are gaining Freedom, Self-confidence, Self-esteem and a profound trust in yourself. You are not poisoning yourself anymore. Time for Celebrations ! p.s. things will get easier and better for you in short time. Hang in there !
  13. Welcome to your Second Day of Freedom, @darcy ! Nicotine is rapidly leaving your body and you are healing up the damage.
  14. Congratulations, @Irene on your First Week of Freedom ! Please remember to reward yourself and stay vigilant. YOU QUIT SMOKING !! WOO HOO !!!
  15. You know, as momentarily agitated as I felt, there were longer periods of a calm I had never experienced as a smoker. There were also shots of jubilance that came with the triumph over a crave/trigger and knowing that I was putting a deadly addiction to sleep. After the first days, when I found Joel Spitzer's and other educational materials, I began to understand the science of what was happening. Knowing what was going on, physically and mentally, not only chilled me out, it made perfect sense. I wasn't floundering in ignorance. So, please avail yourselves to all of our educational materials. They will help you understand the process.

  24. Congratulations on your Sixth day of Freedom ! With each trigger and crave conquered, you claim your brain from addiction. Don't forget to reward yourself !
  25. I'm a commitment-phobe also, @Irene....which should have prevented two marriages, lol, but, once I committed to Not One Puff Ever...and stood by it for a year, my quit felt really, really solid. I am still, after Six + years, committed to NOPE and will remain so.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
