Why is everyone only recommending cold turkey method here ?
Sazerac replied to Sunshine59's topic in Quit Smoking Discussions
I will let an expert in the field of smoking cessation explain Cold Turkey, here are some resources. Cold Turkey Defined Cold Turkey Defined Again Are you still using nicotine ? Why ? I thought you said you stopped. After more than six months, including one relapse, you have not dealt with your nicotine addiction. You worried us with your early abuse of nicotine gum. 30 Years of Nicotine Gum We support all people quitting smoking/using nicotine, all quits are a good quit. Quitting means Quitting. Quitting means putting nicotine addiction to rest. Is Cold Turkey The Only Way To Quit ? I am an advocate of cold turkey because it addresses nicotine addiction immediately and that is why we smoked. Nicotine addiction. I am a cold turkey quitter. I know it is not for everyone but anyone can quit cold turkey. Anyone. It doesn't take super powers. It takes commitment to NOPE. Whatever You Do Don't Quit Cold Turkey -
Second Hand Smoke From Neighboring Apartment
Sazerac replied to Angeleek's topic in Quit Smoking Discussions
Hiya @Angeleek, good to see you. Thirdhand smoke ! and Secondhand smoke. Both dangerous. My neighbors smoke on their stoop. All The Time. I can't have my windows open at the front. It is horrible. I yell, cigarettes KILL and close my windows. I am 'one of those' former smokers and I don't care ! It's POISON ffs ! Good on you for getting an air purifier. Can Second Hand Smoke Cause Relapse ? -

Thank you @Kate18 for your work ! Stay safe, our former smoker's lungs and our age (I'm 64) means we may have a hard time with this virus.

This is not a strange reason to me. I always thought of myself as a strong woman. Then one day I said to myself, 'if you're so friggin' strong, how come you're a slave to tobacco ?' So, on a whim and as a personal challenge, I quit. Just like that. I gave it a year to see if I could do it and I did it. I freed myself from the slavery of nicotine addiction. That was over Six years ago. The first thing I did after destroying any remaining cigarettes was to learn everything I could about nicotine addiction, this helped me understand what my body and mind were going through. I suggest, you start your education if your want to prove to yourself that you can break your bondage to nicotine. This thread may help you navigate around 10 Ways To Effectively Use This Forum To Stop Using Nicotine and to start your education, please avail yourself to Joel Spitzer's work and his Daily Quitting Lesson Guide Welcome to the Quit Train, helmethermit. You have begun a marvelous journey back to yourself.
