  4. You really should learn about your/our nicotine addiction From some of your questions I wonder if you have been learning about your addiction. Put in the time. Not only will you be educated you will pass the time well when craving. I'll Be A Nervous Wreck Forever If I Quit Smoking Why Do Smokers Smoke have a think about our friend, @Sirius 's words, "The next time a craving plunks down on your face ask yourself, "What price you are willing to pay to own yourself?"
  5. Finding Cigarettes and from Joel's post, Here is a short funny clinic story about unexpectedly finding a cigarette and the reaction it may illicit Many years ago I had a clinic graduate relate an incident to me. He had come in the third night of one of my clinics for reinforcement after he had been off for a number of months. He told me that a couple of days earlier he found himself tempted to have a cigarette. He was in a men's room at his work where he saw a a single cigarette (his brand) and a lighter sitting on top of the urinal and all of a sudden thought to himself how tempting it was and how easy it would be to just light the cigarette and take a puff. I asked him when was the last time he ever saw anything else on a urinal in a men's room that he was somehow tempted to put into his mouth. At that he smiled and said, "point well taken." He has been fine since that realization.

-3 oh good, we can have a spanking good time with those poor Sticks in The Fun Room.
  7. Keep smokey thoughts away from your free person. They don't belong to you anymore, they are the voice of an old addiction. Idiotic and whiny and powerless. Focus your attention on your letter, I have written one similar also. It is poignant and important to face realities, something that was impossible in the throes of addiction.
  8. Learn some techniques to settle yourself, @dullyboi. These will help you throughout your life, your smoke free life. Deep Breathing, Meditation Exercise of choice Sit with yourself and concentrate on something of beauty. A memory, a piece of art, music. The face of a loved one. That light on that leaf. We are surrounded by beauty and it stimulates our endorphins. Use this to your advantage.

  21. congratulations on your first two weeks of freedom, @Amierouge you have started adjusting yourself to your new self, facing patterns and body memories associated with smoking. Soon you will be doing your body a great favor by eliminating nicotine from your bloodstream. The patches are keeping you a physical slave. Soon, you will let them go. Do not worry about this. With your head in the right place and your commitment intact, you will succeed in the next transition. Living nicotine free is where it's at. You always have the option of pulling the patches off sooner. Some people forget to put them on, some slip off in the night. You will live just fine without them, just get your head in the right place.
  22. why did you smoke ? what were the circumstances that made this ok with you ? what didn't you understand about addiction ? How will you build a sturdy quit this time ? How can we help you ? addiction is a serious and deadly business. nothing to be trifled with. many people, many many many people have and will successfully quit smoking. You can be one of them. Take back your power.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
