I haven't worn a bra since 1972, don't know where in the alphabet I am, a full handful now that gravity has taken charge.

Congratulations on your Freedom ! You must protect your quit at all costs, any expense. This is your LIFE and the quality of your health we are speaking about. Second Hand Smoke is TOXIC. There is no reason a FRIEND would subject a friend to deadly poison and you needn't participate in anything concerning smoking. You don't go licking puddles in a toxic waste dump, do you ? You wouldn't do that even for your best friend, would you ? Stay away from smokers as long as you need to. My first encounter after I had quit wasn't even a trigger, the stench was repugnant and nauseating. My friends who smoke DO NOT smoke around me. They will lose my friendship if they do. It is a matter of respect. They are free to poison themselves away from me and I do not hound them about their choice...well, mostly lol. You should also be concerned about Third Hand Smoke. Butts in ashtrays emit toxins, clothes emit toxins, skin emits toxins, furnishings and walls ! Study up so you know exactly what you are exposing yourself to, it is so much more than the possibility of endangering your quit. It is about endangering your life.

Welcome to our merry little band of quitters, Patches. People have successfully quit smoking with patches, following the prescribed step-down program. We support all quits here no matter the method. I quit cold turkey because I wanted to face my nicotine addiction head on and get the poison out of my body as quickly as possible. Cold Turkey isn't crazy hard, it is just making a commitment to yourself that you quit smoking and be willing to go through some uncomfortable moments if needed. You may still go through uncomfortable moments using any NRT, this is just the nature of nicotine addiction. There is NO magic bullet except your steadfast commitment to never ever smoke again. Here is a thread to help you around the site 10 Ways To Effectively Use This Forum To Stop Using Nicotine The more information you gather about nicotine addiction the easier your quit will be. So study all the links Planning can also cause unnecessary anxiety where jumping in with your commitment allays your pre-stress about quitting. You can avoid a lot of qualms and fears about quitting as soon as you make that commitment to yourself and start living as a Free person. Here is a vid and resources from our friend, Joel Spitzer, concerning Cold Turkey Whatever You Do Don't Quit Smoking Cold Turkey

Why is everyone only recommending cold turkey method here ?

We support all quits here on QTrain. Putting the addiction to nicotine to sleep is serious business. Everyone is encouraged to deal with their nicotine addiction. No one is pressured, no one is made to feel they are doing wrong by following a prescribed program of NRTs. We all acknowledge that every quit is a good quit. We do not support maintaining the addiction by abusing NRTs or encouraging a re-introduction to NRTs after someone has already begun to put their nicotine addiction to sleep and that has been the modus operandi of the original poster. -
Congratulations on your quit, @AndrewAsh I am glad you sought medical attention. Infections are serious business. Hopefully, you can learn some techniques to deal with your anxiety issues like deep breathing, meditation, exercise. All of which will help you through these dark days. Smoking only exacerbates disease and is it's own stress self generator. I had horrible sinus issues when I smoked, they abated when I quit. Another issue was my teeth, an underlying cause of sinusitis that western medicine ignores. Have a look at an anatomy book and you will see how everything is connected. I find Lymphatic Drainage Massage to be a helpful component to my wellness I do not know whether you are on any other medications to help you deal with your anxiety etc but here is a video Medication Adjustments That May Be Necessary After Quitting Smoking

Thanks for checking in and giving us an update on being nicotine free for 25 days ! This is how NRTs are supposed to work. Excellent job, Tyler. Remember cravings are not commands. They are just synapses in your brain that haven't gotten the memo that you quit smoking yet. You quit smoking ! Celebrate and reward yourself for every crave conquered, every trigger disarmed. You are in power, not the addiction.

Darcy, so much of your fear is just addiction. You will find the new you, the one who can deal with her feelings without shrouding herself behind the smoke. Be kind to yourself during the transitions and remember to continue to reward yourself for every crave conquered, every trigger resolved. You are doing magnificent work and I so appreciate this blog documenting how you build a sturdy and successful quit. S

Well, this ^^^ is a beautiful surprise to see after my 'away week' ! Congratulations A on your Five Days of Freedom ! Stay vigilant and your power and self-respect, self-confidence will increase tenfold ! I saw earlier in the thread that you were going to take sips of Red Bull when you had a crave. Be aware that cleaning nicotine from your system can often change your tolerance to caffeine, just something to be aware of. Possible Changes In Caffeine Tolerance

Hello darling smoke free creatures. I have returned and very glad of it. I had a great break. Completed one abandoned painting and almost finished with another. Super happy about this. Got a lot of writing done and some powerful thinking as well. Thank you for your well wishes, love you guys. During my little holiday, I learned some new machete skills... may come in as handy...so, watch out. Bring on the bingo, @notsmokinjo
