  2. There is a lot of misinformation about when your body is completely clear from nicotine. It is more than a few days for your body to get rid of nicotine, a lot depends on how long/how much you smoked. Tar isn't expelled from the lungs quickly....it is tar for heaven's sake...you need gasoline to get it off your feet ! The good news is that, in time, it will leave your body completely and quit harassing the receptors in your brain. Please cut yourself some slack. Your body is working overtime purging out the nicotine and creating new, clean synapses in your brain. All this is serious healing that you cannot see, that is part of the magic. You can see and appreciate how far you have come in a short time. You can see how you have changed your patterns, how you have taken full control of your life ! You ARE free, part of you just hasn't caught up with the rest. I know you are tired of hearing us say, ' be patient, things will start to get a whole lot better' but, you have to trust us. We don't lie.

  6. Was just thinking about you and Joe's House of Estrogen (Plus One in a few days) Wishing a peaceful birthing for Kelli and a gentle entry into the world for The Plus One. Great to see you, Joe. You are right, we have ourselves a fine new batch of quitters !
  7. Drink some water, take a walk, take a screaming shower or scream into a pillow, go find some beauty to look at (that flower or the light on that leaf). Know that craves only last a few minutes...if that. Breath beautiful oxygen ! Breath deep and purposeful. Put a smile on your face....even a fake smile will stimulate endorphins. Eat an orange, twist the skin and smell . You will beat this and any other crave that comes your way.

  9. @Lust4Life, Thank you for this post. It is really great. I love how you embraced the suck. That is what got me through too, I knew it might be gnarly. It was. Nothing to do but power through and come out on the other side. Thanks for quitting Lusty one and for all your posts. They certainly resonate with me and I know many, many others.
  10. No no no no no and NO. While I respect your method of quitting, pottanramu, recommending nicotine to someone who has stopped administering nicotine is horrible and dangerous advice. It only awakens the addiction. This happens no matter how you administer nicotine, smoking, gum, patches etc... Here, we are dealing not only with smoking but with nicotine addiction and I encourage you to learn all you can about nicotine addiction because knowledge is power and is an essential component of a successful quit. I hope you understand my fervor and passion.

  12. Congratulations, Sonic, on your FOUR years of Freedom. You spirit has encouraged so many of us. Thank you, baby. Possibly the most important thread that our, somewhat salacious, Sonic, started is 'Babe of The Day' (located below stairs, wrapped in brown paper) I firmly believe this thread has provided much needed distraction from smoking and kept certain purient or merely curious individuals close to the board, close to their quit. Thank you, Sonic, for your ummmm.....service. He has also been great support to lots of quitters through the years. I am one of those quitters. Your laughter and kindness has meant a lot to me, Sonic, and it is always a good time when you show up. Have a raucous celebration, baby, I am so happy you quit smoking and shared your journey with us.

  16. that is creepy, Parsley, and I hope it got sorted. Maybe there is something in those old messages that can serve you, some lesson to be learned again. Just remember, You don't smoke. You are, Here and Now, more than a month into your forever quit. Stay vigilent, reward yourself, and take in beautiful clean breaths of oxygen.
  17. Hey, @Baseball Coach Thank you for your insightful post. Congratulations on your Two years of freedom ! I lurked for about 10 months before I joined and I am so happy to be here, almost five years later with this fabulous group.
  18. @TobacNO Congratulations on your NINE days, this is a fierce accomplishment. Reward yourself, rewards are really important because they teach the brain what rewards are and wrench what should be true pleasure away from nicotine. @Kdadtaking breaks without smoking was quite an adjustment for me. Then, when I sat down, I took nice deep clean gorgeous breaths of Oxygen. This helped me to rest, to think and plan. Oxygen became my favorite drug.
  19. I am so proud that you are quitting smoking and would never be disappointed you weren't feeling like 'Polly fcuking Anna'. Euphoria comes and goes, just like in real life, irregardless of smoking. It took a year for all the gunk to be out of my system...maybe even 16 months. The encouraging part was knowing, deep down, that I was never going to smoke again and that will come with time. You can fake it till you make it....I did. Your quit is young, Linda. Cut yourself some slack, be really kind to yourself, reward yourself copiously. Craves can pop up out of nowhere, your addict is desperate and will stop at nothing to ensnare you. Stay focused and alert. You quit smoking. There is nothing more to negotiate. You quit smoking. Celebrate and reward yourself DAILY ! I'm not kidding. Your brain needs to learn what rewards are, what pleasure is.
