  6. I am so happy for you @Wantsit ! For sure, you 'gots it' now. Congratulations on your First YEAR of Freedom. Cravings and Triggers fade and fade, fading imperceptibly after a while. I think of smoking as a concept now and as a result of volunteering here, I think about many aspects of nicotine addiction but, out in the other world, I don't think about my smoking or not smoking. It is never a temptation or even a fleeting but, annoying thought anymore and hasn't been since the first year or so. I still pay mind to NOPE and grateful at the end of the day that I remain free. Stay vigilant, you beautiful nicotine free creature, and continue to reward yourself. You have built a marvelous quit.

    Day eh 24!!!

Quitting smoking is a journey and I have found a journey of self discovery, inner strength and inner peace as well. Soon you will trust yourself on a profound level because you have stopped administering poison to yourself. These changes, especially with newly quit emotions on the surface can easily trigger tears. Sometimes our eyes need to be watered in order to grow. Be kind to yourself, Vivianne. You are changing your brain, your pleasure receptors that were once under nicotine's control are now, one by one, becoming YOURS. Reward yourself to get your endorphins flowing appropriately. Think of rewards as re-rehabilitating your brain because that is exactly what you are doing. All this takes time so, have a little patience and protect your precious quit. Remember to Breathe ! Get that massage, you needn't make this quit any more uncomfortable than it may already be. I think it is Boo who says, 'you don't get extra points for making this more difficult'. I am so glad you are sharing your quit with us, with the world. Congratulations on day 24 and all the days ahead. You quit smoking, baby !
  22. Congratulations on your quit Old Man Coffee ! and welcome to our merry little band of nicotine free creatures. You are right, you ARE stronger than nicotine addiction but, you need to stand by your commitment to NOPE (Not One Puff Ever). Learning about and understanding nicotine addiction will help you immeasurably in building a successful quit. You may find this thread helpful 10 Ways To Effectively Use This Forum To Quit Smoking and here is a thread about The Great Smoke Free Mental Fog Let us know any other issues you are experiencing, not only will there be commiseration and information but, your experience will serve to help others in the same situation. The burden of nicotine addiction and the burden of 'hiding' it from your family will be lifted. You are choosing Freedom now. You quit smoking !

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
