  1. You're already doing it - posting an SOS is already winning, so keep fighting!! You know you don't really wanna throw away your quit, so don't. This WILL happen more than once - you're still in "Hell Week" - but what you'll start to realize soon is that it doesn't really last very long, and all you have to do is just wait it out. Read here, read at whyquit.com, watch some Joel Spitzer videos on Youtube, and before you know it you'll be back to aces. In fact, without knowing what the precipitating incident was, I'll bet it wasn't really as bad as you thought it was, and that it was your junkie lizard brain trying to trick you into feeding it. Get through today, and when you look back tomorrow, tell me if I was right. FORWARD.
  2. Still right behind me, huh? Curses! Also, congratulations.

-1 Why does everyone turn my "b" backwards into a "d"? I'm a noun, not an adjective. Is it because I look like a duck? That's it, isn't it?

    -1 I can't believe I'm in here. Bakon sux!
  11. 1) Split "Games" into its own category Games like "chix or stix" (or whatever, I never play them) are based on constantly adding to the thread with zero content, which is fine, but because they're inside "Socializing" they constantly bold the entire category even though there's nothing new there to read. If they were their own category, then the boldface would actually indicate meaningful new content. Right now it's useless. 2) RSS enabled I use my RSS reader for everything I can use it with, it's that awesome. For those that don't know, it basically creates an amalgamated "feed" or "ticker" of all your websites as they update in real time, sparing you the chore of visiting each one separately and refreshing to check for new content. This site is partially RSS-enabled, but it seems only for the blogs, calendar, and images. It would be way more useful if you could actually subscribe to the forums, so that's my suggestion.
  12. Was only a matter of time before this thread went off the rails.
  13. Welcome to the board, Martina! You've already learned one very important lesson - there is no such thing as "just one" cigarette. I don't have any experience with vaping, but my suggestion would be that you use it and the gum as a transition, and not as a permanent replacement - I'm confident most of the people here will agree with that. Aside from that, try and read as much as possible so that you understand what this addiction really means and how to beat it. It's good to see that you're already thinking of helping other people - doing so is valuable for everyone involved! And congratulations on taking the plunge!
  14. Yeah, you're pretty great, I guess... Congratulations!!
  15. you mean "caboose". Got outcompeted by uberoose. Where the hell is Bat?

  17. Good grief! They make Phd's for women now???
  18. How is this website like a Wendy's potato? Too much Bakon's bits.
  19. I'm at month 38, and in the past month had two smoking dreams. Before that I hadn't had any in forever, but I won't be shocked if I'm still having one a blue moon years from now. They're a bit irritating, but I don't really lose any sleep over it <_< BECAUSE... that! Hey, dreams are crazy.
  20. You're on day 3, the most hellish day of hell week for many people. So of course it's going to suck, and your choice is whether or not you embrace it. Embracing the suck is a sublime and confounding philosophy, but it's the key to many quits - it will get better, but first it will suck, and your only real choice is how you come to terms with that. Also, I think it's a mistake to expect to be constantly motivated. You're not doing a bench press, where a few moments of focussed willpower does the trick - you're in this for the long haul, and some days you're just not going to feel it. But the good news is you don't need motivation to NOT do something, which is what quitting is. All you have to do is ride it out. Just get through today. I bet you feel better tomorrow.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
