  10. Hey Evelyn, It's better to be safe than sorry. If venting here helps you, then I say go for it. If the patch helps you keep it on. How about each time you get an urge, you chew a piece of gum or candy? Make a new habit. Keep us updated on how you are doing :)

  16. This post made me realize that this Spring is my last "first" season. Wow. I quit just as we were headed into Summer. Want to know something? It was the best summer I can remember in a long time. I kid you not. I am not just talking about being able to breath better and the fact that I quit. I simply enjoyed it more because I wasn't a slave to a cigarette, it was a summer of freedom for me. For example, swimming in the pool....The summer before last, every so often I would get out of the pool, dry off, put something on my feet, go find a place I could be hidden from the kids view yet be able to see them in the pool. Every 20 minutes, do it again. I never have to do that again and that makes me really happy :)
  17. Way to go Amy! The first day has got to be the biggest step. I hope you have some rewards lined up, you deserve it!
  18. Juan, You need to take ownership of your quit and of your health. Nobody is going to turn you away if you relapse once a year, once a month or once a week. However, if what you did last time didn't work, it's time to try something different. Start with the pledge. Every morning before leaving your house, make the pledge. It is a promise to yourself, not to us. Sometimes, just typing that pledge can make all the difference. Another thing, some people can quit and check in here once in a while and they are fine. Others, need the support of the board even if they are not actively struggling. Just hanging out here whenever you have a few minutes, reading posts & responding to posts or playing games in social. I was like that when I quit and I suspect you may be as well. Give it a shot Juan, this can be your sticky quit. If you need to lean on someone...there are 94 and counting people here willing to back you up day or night.
  19. So, I was really excited that another spin class was added. Got there today, set up my bike, did 2 sets of chest presses. I start to warm up on my bike and start to notice everybody has a set of 5 lb weights next to the bike. It's a part spin, half dumbbell class. Oh no thank you, I felt a little silly but got out of there as fast as I could lol. Went and did a 25 minute circuit.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
