  3. Life is good. Even the sorrow and sadness is there to teach us a lesson or teach us to appreciate what's good.

  5. welcome Michelle!! Congratulations on day 3! You can do this...and just like your other recovery...it's one day at a time. You've come to a great, supportive place and we are happy to have you. :)
  6. I know exactly what you mean TEW....only a runner understands. :)
  7. of course my main motivation for quitting was much deeper than this....but back in July 2012 I spoke to my old dear friend from high school who told me he quit smoking. I always thought of him as a male version of me. We were a lot alike and used to be smoking buddies too. I thought to myself "that's it! If he can do it, so can I" Since then....he has quit 2 times...and relapsed both times. :( I remember his first relapse and the sinking feeling in my stomach...I was only about 6 months in and still shaky. For a few days...I remember having bad urges to smoke at that time and I know it's because my motivator/quit buddy relapsed...as if it had anything to do with me..lol Recently I spoke to him and once again learned about him smoking again. Only this time....I felt sad for him but it wasn't a threat to my quit at all.
  8. Welcome Starry! Happy to have you here. I have done the same in the past.....quit for a few months and then go back. It wasn't until I reached out for support when needed that I was able to stick with it. It's nice to have a place to go to where there are people who understand. There's accountablility here....education about nicotine addiction and all it's tricks...and there's NOPE...Not One Puff Ever. Stick to NOPE...and you will remain a non smoker for life. Congrats to you on your quit!
  9. Thank you gabby. We are human, right? I think in recent years I've learned good coping skills and have the ability most times to accept life on life's terms. Not always. Sometimes I still want to force my will in a situation ...and those are the times I suffer the most. When I'm able to to just go with the flow......no matter what that entails...I am a much more calmer, serene person. It is...what it is. That being said...I will most definitely be leaning on my QT family. I'm lucky to have you guys. :)
  10. great job!! and ummmmm.....when did you whine??? I must have missed it...but if you did....that means you didn't smoke..so who cares what you write here. Write away! Very proud of you!
  11. this made me laugh....twat...bwahahahahaha yep....friends and family don't get it your QT family does...that's why we are here... I remember when I said to my son who was 16 at the time when I was about a month quit..I said..."aren't you proud of me?? I've gone 30 days without a cigarette" His response? "aren't you proud of me? I've gone 16 years" Brat! lol
  12. Sexy And Radiant And Happy

  15. Back at it after vacation....Yesterday was arm day and today 1 hr cardio
  16. haven't run since I got back from Florida but I did run 3 times while I was down there. 2 times in my friends neighborhood and once on the beach. The air was thick down there compared to here so I did have a bit of a hard time breathing but the funny thing was..my time was better then ever. Which isn't good. haha. I ran 3 miles....3.2 miles...then 2 miles on the beach...lol my pace on the 3.2 mile was 10:53 per mile...I'm usually 12 min miles still...lol not bad going to run tomorrow
  17. oohh la la :)
  18. Omg. Day 2 and I'm crying again. You are all so special. Such kind souls. Thank you so much. I'm feelin the love.
  19. Thank you. I was just so moved by it. I knew she liked me but she was a little hard to read at times. Nope...I'm not a social worker I share an office with one. I'm a nurse but no longer work on the floor. I work in rehab and I'm the PPS coordinator there. Funny thing was the social workers she was working with didn't quite connect with her well and frequently misunderstood her. I did though. I really like her. I had no idea I made such an impression on her. It goes to show you....kindness always always wins. Always. Markus I brought back a peeling forehead and a nice tan. :) I had a blast in Daytona. So awesome seeing my old friend. Meeting new friends. Kind of acted like a teenager and partied everyday...karaoke night. Dancing. There was a lot of smoking all around me. But not this girl of course. I slept for 13 hours straight when I got home. Partied like a rock star. Getting too old for that. But today....I'm back on track. No more booze. Back to gym and healthy eating. I did run on 3 occasions while I was down there. Felt good.
  20. way to go cpk!!
  21. i missed the day but do appreciate BAT every day :)
  22. forgot to mention......choose your words carefully, Evelyn.. Please...never..even in jest...call yourself a whale. That's harmful to you.
  23. this too shall pass! Every time you overcome a challenge..it just makes you that much stronger...and your quit more solid. You will never smoke again, TEW!!
  24. I have been having a hard time lately...just in my personal life in general. Today, the social worker intern who happens to be in my office under the guidance of the social worker here who I share an office with..gave me a gift. An alex and ani bracelet!!! I love it!! But the note she wrote me...touched me deeply and made me realize how lucky i am. Truly. :) Dear Babs-- Thank you for all you have done for me this past year. I truly believe I wouldn't have made it through this year without your kind words and support. Through everything that has happened this past year I felt comfortable sharing with you because of the person you are - a great one! You kid around that you are a "work mom" but I honestly can talk to you about stuff that I can't with my own mother and I am so grateful for this. You are one of the strongest women I know and I want you to know how beautiful and inspiring you are! Stay in Touch!! <3 Rachel I am smiling now :) Kindness comes just when you need it the most
  25. definitely NOPE!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
