  6. I just started reading it and I love it already!
  7. that first year has it's moments....I was trucking along and at 11 months....I had anxiety and automatically assumed I wanted a cigarette and those obsessive thoughts prompted me to post an SOS. Even at 11 months!! But...that was my last time...and since then...if I do get anxiety I know without a shadow of a doubt that it has nothing to do with quitting smoking. Great job Erik!
  8. Yes!! A new day indeed. Clean canvas....not tobacco stained :)
  9. Ran 2 miles tonight Finally downloaded the book. Gonna read tonight
  10. I knew because when you posted....you kept referring to the cigarette as if it still held so much power over you. You were abstaining from something that tempted you and you acknowledged that as a sacrifice rather than having escaped the clutches of the addiction. As if it was something you were missing. You also knew 2 hours ahead of time that you were going to struggle. Say you will struggle...and you will. Eventually you will cave with an attitude like that. Anybody would. Glad you are back....glad you are doing your homework about nicotine addiction and glad you are asking questions so you can prevent the same thing from happening again. Read...plan your date...and work that sticky quit for good....be done with it. We are here :)
  11. Fantastic Evelyn!!
  12. Great Job!!
  13. Ran 5k this morning. My best time ever. It was more like 4 miles but phone was frozen for the first mile so it didn't record it.

  16. Work today....nothing planned for tonight 5k in the morning Babysit my granddaughter tomorrow night (best way to spend a Saturday night. :). ) Sunday no plans in particular. Somewhere in the vacant spots I'll toss in laundry, cleaning, and shopping. Supposed to be beautiful up here in the Northeast. High 70s and sunny. What are your plans?
  17. By not posting daily...I missed all this inspiration. Finished the week with a great cardio workout. Tomorrow 5k
  18. smoking is not an option that was mine...same concept..different words once you start playing around with words like...just one, maybe this wasn't a good time to quit, maybe I am not strong enough, maybe I'm more addicted, I'm tempted to smoke, I want to smoke, I feel shaky....all this negative self talk leaves the option to smoke...take it off the table
  19. Happy Birthday Jess!!
  20. Pure speculation. How can I drive from the back seat while I'm searching for my shoes? :D
  21. also from Pema (love her...went to one of her workshops for a weekend retreat. Changed my life.) We think that by protecting ourselves from suffering, we are being kind to ourselves. The truth is we only become more fearful, more hardened and more alienated. We experience ourselves as being separate from the whole. This separateness becomes like a prison for us - a prison that restricts us to our personal hopes and fears, and to caring only for the people nearest to us. Curiously enough, if we primarily try to shield ourselves from discomfort, we suffer. Yet, when we don't close off, when we let our hearts break, we discover our kinship with all beings

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
