  9. congratulations MQ! almost at a year smober....fantastic!!
  10. Never a lost cause Beth! I know you have made positive changes as well. Keep doing as you are doing, one day at a time. One day, you look at yourself and no longer see how far you have to go...you see how far you've come. Thank you Beth...and thank you everyone for your constant, loving support and encouragement. Means a lot :)
  11. i agree mostly that fresh fish is the better option...but the supermarket fish is old...they bleach it to rid it of the smell and color..that's disgusting. In that case....frozen is the better option. If you find a brand you like..stick with it cause if they froze it when it was fresh and vacuum sealed it....it's the next best thing to fresh. Rule of thumb: if it smells fishy...don't eat it haha....i'm giggling about where your mind is going with that... :)
  12. thanks you guys!! Action....a thousand US dollars....that would buy me a nice amount of new clothes and also help with my trip to South Carolina next month.... but like joe said.....i'm already a winner....and so thrilled to inspire others too Just in the last week people are approaching me like crazy and asking me what i'm doing and saying "wow" haha...honestly i don't like that much attention. I feel awkward
  13. all this exercise and clean eating has made me feel better than i have in years...honestly! I have had times in my life where I thought i was healthy and felt pretty good but not like this...because this time...i'm a non smoker!! and now...at my gym...i am one of 7 finalists. The winner is voted on by other members for the best transformation in 10 weeks....i will find out tomorrow the results. I am already feeling like a winner...and to have been nominated by my peers feels amazing in itself...but wow...i could definitely use that money...who couldn't, right? Going to see my son graduate from basic training in less than a month...wonder if he will recognize me :)
  14. oh i don't miss the hangovers....i'm feeling great this saturday morning! sorry..was I yelling too loud? LOL...sleep it off Sarah!

  17. that's fantastic Beth!! Your smoking days are WAYYY behind you! woo hoo!! Please post more often! You're unique ass kicking skills are hilarious, stern, and eye opening all at the same time...(with a hint of "did she really just say that?" haha) We love ya Beth! Congrats again!
  18. fantastic job! 6 months is awesome Dors!
  19. agree with all of the above! I also always remembered 2 parts in allen carr's book. 1. How can the same substance that calms you down also can give you energy? It relaxes you...but also helps you concentrate? learning that was junkie thinking is what kept me going. 2. He also told an analogy about a blemish on the face. You have a blemish and are given this miracle cream and when applied-the blemish goes away instantly but temporarily. It comes back bigger and you need more and more cream to get rid of it. Each time it comes back bigger and bigger and now the cream needs to be applied at least 20 times a day. You are a slave to the cream..and the blemish is huge and unsightly, you can't leave the house. Then you go to another doctor and he tells you that all you have to do is stop the cream and the blemish will go away and never return. All you have to do is stop the cream even if it's huge and ugly, eventually it goes away. Thinking this way helped me to know as long as I don't take a puff today, I will never suffer through hell week again. Ever. Kept reminding myself. Smoking is not an option...I may be pissed off and may need something...but a cigarette isn't it. NOPE

  25. I'm not a fan of alcohol really. Early in my quit I was afraid to have any. All previous relapses occurred while drinking. My guard was down and bam...I took the puff. Grrrrr. Besides that, I'm not really into feeling like crap the next day. And in addition--too many calories. Give me coffee.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
