  1. So...maybe this is why, for the last few years....I have been so much better in the winter. I meditate daily. I do believe the mind is the most important tool we have and as we know as ex-smokers...we can train our minds for anything. Even things that are physiological in nature. Positive attitude does play a role...it's not the only thing of course...but it's one of the things that helps. Goes along with the sunlight, vitamin D, exercise, avoiding alcohol..and if necessary..medication. But first..try meditation. Can meditation help Seasonal Affective Disorder? According to research conducted by Dr. Norman Rosenthal, the man that gave Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) its name, the answer is yes. His research has demonstrated that a portion of the brain called the pineal gland is involved in SAD. The pineal gland is involved with our sleep/wake functions and the production of melatonin. As reported on BrainwaveResearchInstitute.com, Dr. Rosenthal has shown that meditation can stimulate the pineal gland and reduce the symptoms of SAD.
  2. It's a big NOPE up in jersey yo!
  3. when i found out my daughter was pregnant with my first grandchild....this little angel right here.. that's when I vowed that this little girl was never going to know her mom-mom as a smoker. I kept my promise and will continue to do so. Unfortunately...she spends much time at the back door asking her pop pop to come inside. That's sad...and I am so grateful that's not me. I picked up the dusty Allen Carr book on my shelf that had periodically haunted me...and I started reading...again. This time though...I was smarter and searched for online support...and found it...along with the Joel videos...which i watched...over and over and over again.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
