  1. Yes, the freedom is unreal!!! I didn't know what a slave I was ...my every moment and financial planning centered around that stinking, little 4 inch stick...that weighed as much as a prison ball and chain. Freedom is one of the greatest and unexpected rewards!!! You can do...focus on the many rewards...honest, there are many! :)
  2. Yes, this is an excellent support site! And honest, quitting is not as hard as our fear and the nicodemon makes us believe! COPD, chemo treatments, etc., are soooo much harder, believe me! And we are so much more powerful than we think! YOU CAN DO THIS! 1 day at a time! :)
  3. WTG Stewie, and super Congrats! So glad it is getting easier and easier! Keep on Keepin' on! :)
  4. Super congratulations on your 3 year quit anniversary, DD. What an accomplishment and so inspiring to others! WTG!!!
  5. Opps, sorry, Stewie, not Steve. Me bad! lol
  6. So true, Steve! Congratulations on your good quit time too...8 months plus is fantastic!
  7. Thanks to you also, Nancy, and WTG on your super quit! All of you are so inspirational to others!
  8. Thank you so much, Doreensfree and Runfree, and congrats to both of you for nice long quit time too! :)
  9. I have always said that quitting smoking was the hardest thing that I had ever done. I must change that now. Paying the consequences of smoking with my ongoing progressive emphysema, chronic bronchitis, etc., and a recent scare when a nodule showed up on my lung and the doc feared could be lung cancer! Which at this point is not, thank God. But I will always be at even higher risk for lung cancer now. These things are so much harder than the very worst of the craves I had when I quit. I don't post this for pity, I post for encouragement for smokers to quit or those trying to quit, to KEEP your quit. And for me I had to turn it over to God...God quit for me. I always prayed for him to help me...HELP ME! That was a laugh! I was hopeless, so I started praying for him to do it for me and he did. Smoke free for 7 and half years. But I did not quit soon enough. Believe me, the worst crave in the world is a piece of cake compared to not being able to breath!!! And it is heartbreaking to know that my kids have to watch me suffer a horrific death unless the Good Lord decides to take me home another way! :) (No, I'm not suicidel :) ) I know this is hard nosed, but this IS what it becomes! You will be surprised at actually how much easier it is to quit than we fear! And the rewards are wonderful and start happening early in the quit. I love you all. I am available anytime to be a quit buddy and share support information also.
  10. Hi Sgt., no my bass is a vintage Fender Mustang. I like the P bass but the short scale neck is better for me cause I have small hands. I take it your a musician too? :)
  11. Congratulations on your 3 years Anny, Paul, and your attitude of gratitude is awesome and inspiring to others too! :)
  12. Great video and good information. Sadly, I didn't quit soon enough and it is also true that Sgt. Barney said, it does still progress even when we quit smoking but much, much slower, thank God. I am still grateful that I quit..I would be dead now if I had not quit.
  13. Congratulations on 4 months, Boo! Great inspiration to others also! WTG!
  14. Super Congrats on your awesome 3 years Anny, Petra! :D
  15. Congratulations, Indigo! 2 weeks are awesome. Yes, Evelyn, get back on the quit wagon, maybe journal what triggered your relapse and learn from it. You can use it as a learning tool, not something negative ok. And I learned that its best to not call myself names and negative stuff. We are human and humans make mistakes. Part of the reason I got caught up in addiction is because of my low self esteem...and calling myself names just lowers the self esteem even more. Positive thinking is a great quitting tool and the nicodemon hates it! lol
  16. Said a prayer for her and your family!
  17. I've been popping in and out for awhile and really like the site. Thank you for this site! I've been quit for 7 years plus and was a member of a different site for several years until they changed formats and eliminated the chat room. Chatting is my preference. lol I have most of my details in my profile, but briefly, I am almost 73, live in Phoenix, AZ and a very grateful quitter and love "paying it forward". Looking forward to meeting new friends here. Hugs, Pat
  18. Grapes were a great low fat munchie and helped with the hand to mouth motion we miss. Try them frozen also, soooo good! For salty food, pretzels are good and fat free. Slice apples, no fair using a slicer! lol Peeling and slicing them is a good distraction. lol Good suggestions here everyone. :) I have more distractions in my profile too. Hugs, Pat
  19. Woot, woot and congrats on 3 marvelous smoke free months!
  20. I had an overweight problem anyway, so I planned my new eating habits along with my quit. I knew I would be hungry all the time...part of quitting I also thing, so I accepted that and ate all the time..just picked healthy, low fat, low cal food instead of my favorite snacks like cookies, cakes, etc. LOL In doing so, I actually lost weight. Grapes were may favorite snack and other finger foods cause that helped with the hand to mouth habit we aquired smoking that nasty stick! Pretzels good and fat free, I learned to love the butter free, low cal popcorn, sliced apples were good and also kept the hands busy slicing them. Hugs, Pat
  21. Happy Birthday, Nancy, and your pic of an earlier birthday is soooo cute! :)
  22. 8 days are just AWESOME! And I agree with the others, every smoke free day is HUGE! Congratulations. And KTQ...your doing it!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
