  9. Welcome Nicky. Glad you found this site and I'm sure it will be very helpful. So many wise supporters here! You CAN do this! :)
  10. It will happen, honest! But for now, stay in the moment..one day at a time. Maybe make a crave a useful tool, a reminder that you need to do one of your distractions, like deep breathing...stretching, journal about it...what triggered the crave. That way it can be a learning tool instead of something difficult. You did make a list of distractions, right? :) And I mean actually write them down. We don't think clearly in the middle of a crave, keep your list handy. For an example of a list, read my profile. Read other profiles here too, that is a good one to put on your list. LOL I found as I was told, the better our quit plans, the fewer the craves. Your doing super, hang in there! Hugs, Patoolla
  11. Oh, I forgot the good news....the emotions balance out as we learn to cope with them now, instead of hiding them with the smoke screen. :)
  12. Just roll with the flow on the emotions. Maybe appreciate them...cause we spent so many years numbing them with the nasty stick, it is a blessing to feel them now. Just don't fight them, especially the urge to cry or get angry. Go ahead and cry, have a punch pillow handy when angry. LOL Fighting them only generates a crave.
  13. Wow, we've come a long way since AOL, huh! lol
  14. NOPE....love it!!!
  15. Great quit going for you, Jackie, and your attitude is excellent! Glad you checked in too, it is inspiring to others to see good progress. :)

  17. Hi there Willy, and welcome. Coming here is so helpful! :)
  18. Of course not...they are addicted. :( But some will comply, some will get evicted, some, hopefully, will quit.
  19. Hi Jackie and welcome! This support group is wonderful here! Mornings were the hardest for me also. That first morning I didn't know what to do with myself...I was a heavy smoker and chain smoked for a least an hour after getting up. Gee, I was lost. That night before going to bed I took time to write down a new morning schedule. Instead of going immediately to the kitchen where my coffee was already thanks to the automatic setting, I got active. I showered, made the bed, took more time fixing my hair, etc., before even going to the kitchen. Then instead of setting up the automatic coffee cycle the night before, I made the coffee. Just think of all you can do to keep busy...and that "lost" feeling is gone. Oh yes, another thing, I would step out on my patio and STRETCH and deep breath. Ahhhhh, felt so good. Hope this helps. You can do it!!!! And bless you for doing it while your young and hopefully, haven't caused health problems. :)
  20. Great news, more and more laws are being made to make smoking free living! I live in a HUD Senior Apt. complex and there are several smokers here, including the manager! Last year we did go partially smoke free, no smoking in the units which actually created a nightmare. Smokers can smoke on their patios....so about 5 or 6 smokers congregate on a patio which is horrible to live near! Or even walk by the area! Many residents have to walk to other areas of the complex using a different way because the smoke is so strong. Even the Manager has refused to obey the rules that smokers have to be 20 feet from the business office to smoke! She was reported about 4 times and FINALLY is complying. Oh yes, I understand...I was one that was a ruthless, selfish smoker...that is part of the addictive behaviour. Looking back, I am ashamed at my desperation and selfishness. Thank God, I quit! Of course, HUD housing is low income and one wonders how the smokers can afford to buy the nasty sticks. Ahhh, addictive behavior again...cigs before bills, etc.! :( Hopefully, this new ruling will give some smokers the incentive to quit! I definately is going to make a difference in the harm that second hand smoke does!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
