  1. You also mentioned stress about your holiday money. The holidays can be emotionally difficult for all kinds of reasons. I can well understand that the combination of car repairs, tight money, and holiday stress could provoke frequent thoughts of smoking. Is that what is happening with you?
  2. Can you tell us what is going on with you? You're 60 days away from the cigarettes, so it can't be actual nicotine addiction. You said you are stressed with car repairs. So is it the stress that is making you want to smoke?
  3. Good morning, rowly. Thank you for posting an SOS before you went out to buy some smokes!

  5. Well, if I had been doing so well with nutrition and exercise and then had this fairly serious head injury that messed everything up, I think I would be a mixture of angry, frightened and sorry for myself. Does any of that sound familiar? Can you do any exercise at all or do you have to remain as quiet as possible? Could you swim? Use a rowing machine? Walk? Anything?

  7. FYI-- Jen and Nancy and I had a nice chat. Jen is feeling a little better now and she is determined keep her quit (one day at a time, like all of us).
  8. I'm sorry that you are struggling so much these days. I have had those obsessive smoking thoughts and they drive me crazy when they're happening. Can you come chat for a few minutes?

  11. How is it that cats can look so darned comfortable no matter where they are?? Who could possibly stay awake while looking at that totally comfortable kitty? Ugh!
  12. Thank you for the special holiday greeting, Beth! You be safe and happy this season, too, and come back in the new year with all colors blazing! :)
  13. Just kind of in line with this thread... Last night my husband sat down at the computer and happened to see my ticker. There's nothing secret about this site, of course, but I have a habit of closing the browser when I'm finished surfing the net and this time I didn't. So he saw my ticker. He said, "Wow!! Do you mean to tell me that you have not smoked 8,000 cigarettes since you quit??!! And you have saved more than $1,200??!! That's terrific! Good for you." I guess I take these things for granted now. His praise made me feel good.
  14. Sarah, I'm so happy for you! It's very rare that a woman has the strength to get out of an abusive relationship but you did it! And you quit smoking at the same time. Incredible! And now you are reaping the rewards-- going into the New Year with a healthier and happier mind and body. Yours is a very inspiring story. Thank you for sharing it!
  15. 30 per day on average
  16. Well, good for her! There is nothing wrong with using e-cigs to help you quit. Give her a hug from me.
  17. the FIRST time I took an illegal left-hand turn that my husband took 100 times (at least!!). I don't usually say, "I told you so." but I couldn't resist saying it when...
  18. Prime rib, mostly because I need the drippings to make the Yorkshire pudding and gravy. :) Yorkshire pudding is, as DD said, a roll or pastry type thing. The batter is made with flour and water and eggs and poured into a pre-heated ceramic dish containing some beef drippings. The batter puffs up high and crisp on the outside and tender on the inside-- rather like a cream puff shell. When you take it out of the oven, the top collapses (like a souffle) making a perfect pastry bowl to hold the gravy. As DD says, nom Nom NOM!!
  19. Once you have chosen your ticker style, there are 2 sets of code you can copy. One starts like this: [url=http://www.quittr... the other starts with <a href... Copy the one that starts with [url=http:/ Then go to your signature box like Nancy said and be sure to switch to BB mode (the "light switch" icon at the left hand side of the top navigation ribbon). Once you are in BB mode, paste your [url=http:// code. Then switch back to normal mode and you should see your ticker. As Nancy said, be sure to save your changes before you leave the signature page.

  25. Gee, you make it sound like everything is so much better without smoking! Great post. Thanks!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
