  1. Congratulations Julie! My pants are bigger now too! I guess we need to get moving :)
  2. I used to have a friend who had asthma and she would cough and gag and say I hate asthma in between chain smoking! Just WOW!!
  3. I get it Evelyn, the style that some folks use to communicate can really rub some people the wrong way. But they all know what they are talking about. We have all been there. Do we all have the same life problems? Of course not. But just because we have different struggles does not mean we don't understand. We all have had to conquer Stress, pain, loss, and every other emotion and we have done it without smoking. Early in my quit my 16 year old cat died. Did I want to smoke? Of course I did. Was I stressed, sad, lonely, hurt, devastated and many other emotions? Yes. Did I smoke? No. If I had smoked The people who are saying things you don't like would have said the same thing to me. There will always be a reason to make you want to smoke. We all thought we were more addicted than the others around us who managed to quit. We all thought we had more stress than the next guy to overcome. We were wrong and now we know it. Hopefully one day you will too. No matter what you are going to have to learn to deal with stress and emotion without smoking. We all have struggles and pain just because they are not the same as yours does not mean we don't get it. We get it Evelyn. We also get what freedom feels like and we all want you to join us. Freedom rocks! As always we want the best for you.
  4. I showed my 14 year old daughter Pay It Forward and The Dead Poets Society. She now won't let me show her any movies because I always pick movies that make her cry!
  5. :girl_witch: :dash3: :dash1: :dash2:
  6. I did not plan either Sarah, I just did it. Just like you. I do know my junkie voice kept telling me I should smoke one more so I could enjoy my last smoke knowing it would be my last, but thankfully I was smart enough to believe all my fellow quitters that told me that I would be making a big mistake if I did. Happily that junkie has shut up now and only shows up once in a great while. You will be fine Sarah :)
  7. Yes Evelyn it is quite common to have trouble sleeping when we quit. Good thing is as with most of the side effects we encounter when quitting, it is temporary. I cut down my caffeine and did my best to concentrate on deep breathing while trying to fall asleep. My mind tends to go into overdrive when I am trying to sleep so that is why I put my focus on long deep breaths to help relax me kinda like counting sheep I guess. It will get easier if you keep going :)
  8. Nice to see you Beth!
  9. Oh no ((((Trish)))) Hope you feel better soon! I was a gymnast in my younger years and I tried to show my husband I could still do a no handed cartwheel a few years ago. Well I did do the aerial cartwheel but I also managed to pull about a dozen muscles. Lesson learned until I was playing a DVD game of guess the lyrics and decided I would not only guess the lyrics of Like A Virgin but I would also dance like madonna and do the stage hump yep you guessed it pulled more muscles. From now on I sit like a lady and remember the pain. I am officially old! LMAO!
  10. Lol Jimmy mine changed too :) down at the bottom left of the page there is option to change theme. I think MQ was playing with the themes yesterday
  11. Yay Amy! The freedom from those nasty little killers sure does feel great!
  12. Thanks for sharing this El Bandito. Surviving company, drinks, and a hangover your quit just got so much stronger!
  13. I remember the first time I sat outside drinking with smokers. It was so empowering being able to sit comfortably and have a good time. Congratulations Melody your quit just got a little stronger :)
  14. I am not a big fan of turkey for dinner, but cold turkey is the way I quit as well.
  15. Evelyn I am so proud of how hard you are fighting! We all had different tricks we used, deep breathing exercises, some liked using a straw to pretend to smoke. I ate a lot! I also found doing projects like painting my fingernails helped because it took a long time to finish and the crave would be gone before before I could finish. I wish I had the answers for you, but I am confident you WILL figure out what will work for you.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
