  1. Good news: Speedo makes some sensible board shorts. I have a couple of pairs, solid swim trunks. You can rock the Speedos without cramming your gentleman's business into one of those banana hammocks. Congratulations on the weight loss.
  2. Finally got back on an actual schedule this morning with my workouts. I've been doing a bit here and a bit there; some days not doing much of anything. The plan is stripped down and sticks with the basics. Monday and Thursday: Deadlift, Overhead Press, Farmer's Walks, and 15 minutes of steady-state rowing. Tuesday and Friday: Squat, Bench Press, Sled Pushes, and five 3 minute rounds on the heavy bag. Looking to clean up my eating a bit as well. Not making any promises, but an attempt will be made.
  3. Buc-ee's is Texas based and most locations are in the Lone Star State. However, now they have stores in Georgia, Florida, Alabama, South Carolina, Kentucky, and the great state of Tennessee. They are expanding across the South now. Can world domination be far behind?
  4. Did I mention that Buc-ee's has a sausage section? A wide variety of sausages for every occasion. I'm tellin' ya Doreen, you would love Buc-ee's. I'm currently looking for an excuse to head up to Cumberland County and visit the Buc-ee's in Crossville. They are currently planning on opening Buc-ee's second Tennessee location in Sevierville. Road trip!
  5. Doing a non-paid advertisement for Buc-ee's. The Labor Day weekend was a wash-out with all the rain around here. However, all was not lost. Loaded up the Boo Crew on Saturday for a road trip down to Georgia to visit family. We stopped at a Buc-ee's location in Calhoun, Georgia. If you're not familiar, Buc-ee's is a gas station and convenience store...but it's so much more. They have legitimately good food and lots of it. I had pulled pork and banana pudding for dessert. Sugar Britches had a breakfast taco that was the size of her head and some really tasty fudge for dessert. Maddie had chicken nuggets and a fruit cup. And if you need a little something for the road, Buc-ee's has an entire wall filled with every type of beef jerky imaginable. We also bought a couple of bags of Beaver Nuggets. Sugar Britches laughed at me and said: "You're gonna end up buying a T-shirt." She was right. I also picked up a light sweatshirt for Fall. Then she found a shirt with Bucky Beaver on it with the saying: "This Critter Don't Litter" and all of a sudden had a change of heart about Buc-ee's apparel. Maddie and Jackson each got a plush Bucky. Maddie picked out a tie dye shirt and Jackson got a onesie. And to top off the day, we got a family photo with Bucky...that is an heirloom that will be handed down through the generations.
  6. Cheers!
  7. Good job Overcome. Congratulations.
  8. Getting ready for a three-day weekend. Also, on a long weekend related note, I'm wondering why I didn't think of this...
  9. Welcome aboard Fermosalua. Good call on giving up the smokes. Quitting smoking is one of the best things you will ever do for yourself.
  10. My butcher, a good man doing the Lord's work, has slabs of ribs waiting for me at his shop. Back away from the grill, I'm about to fire that thing up!
  11. Do what I do: put an old parking ticket under your windshield wiper when you park. They'll think they already wrote you up and pass on by. Bakon is the resident cop here and he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
  12. Heard a clip of this song over the weekend and drew a blank on the song title and band. Finally worked it out because I'm a bit obsessive when it comes to things like that. And, it's in keeping with Jo's whole Aussie band theme she's got going...
  13. Still time to get a sing-a-long going...
  14. Nice work FunkyMonkey. Celebrate and enjoy, you've earned it.
  15. Such an important point for those starting out in their quit. The triggers and craving are real, they can be a pain in the ass. However, you'll get through it. There may be times when you have to clench your teeth and white-knuckle it, but you'll get through it. With time and repetition, not smoking becomes easier and easier. Eventually, smoking becomes nothing more than an afterthought. The challenge is temporary. The freedom is permanent.
  16. Welcome to the Quit Train Keya. Good call on giving up the smokes. Might as well get comfortable with that. Every quitter has dealt with the paradox of not wanting to be a smoker but wanting a cigarette. The key is wanting to quit more than you want to smoke. Commit to the quit. Take smoking off the table...it is no longer an option. Quitting is a challenge. Quitting is also incredibly simple. Don't put things in your mouth and light them on fire...one step and you're good to go. Godspeed Keya.
  17. Country music legend. NASCAR driver. Actor, played roles in several Westerns. Marty did a lot of living in his time.
  18. Yep. Free fireworks!
  19. Yes sir! Yoda hits the lido! Seems like only yesterday when you were a promising freshman... And no...I didn't forget the monkey gif on your big day...
  20. Another one by Marty Robbins. This one is historically significant as the song that gave birth to the fuzzy guitar tone. When Grady Martin went to add his guitar solo, a transformer blew in his amp leading to 250 volts going directly through the winding. And the rest is history.
  21. Way to go Sam! And congratulations to the proud Nana. The young fella is a gentleman and a scholar.
  22. Top-shelf quit. Congratulations Leanna.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
