  1. One of my all-time favorites. Donnie at work, not so much. It's not that he didn't like the movie, he just gets tired of hearing "shut the f*** up Donnie" all the time.
  2. YOU'RE MOTORING! Song was released over thirty years-ago, and it's still damn-near impossible not to sing along with that chorus.
  3. "You ain't gotta read between the lines, you just gotta turn the page."
  4. I'll throw my estimated 55,590 coffin nails on the fire.
  5. Welcome aboard Ace. Good call on giving up the smokes. That's a key point. Smoking is always a personal choice; always was, always will be. Congratulations on one-week smokefree.
  6. "I'm here live, I'm not a cat" is my favorite line of 2021 so far.
  7. Congratulations on eleven months of freedom. Prepare the lido deck, IQ is coming in hot.
  8. Me and a couple of the guys at work turned a garage space that we weren't using into a gym. Nothing fancy, just the essentials: power rack, deadlift platform, flat bench, pull-up bar, barbells and plates. Now, when I take a little pause for the cause at work, I can get in a few sets. More of the guys are using the equipment everyday and a bit of healthy competition is getting the boys motivated. Stumpy, who works in the warehouse, is one to keep an eye on. He's short and built like a tree stump, thus the name. Stumpy is a stout young man and can move some serious weight.
  9. Great job Rozuki. Congratulations.
  10. Good job Linda. Drive on.
  11. The cravings come...then they go. Don't make a permanent decision based on a temporary feeling.
  12. Repetition is the key. What feels new and weird today will start to feel very normal with time and repetition. Consistently making new and better choices rewires the brain. Here's a video I enjoyed during the early days of my quit...
  13. Congratulations Wendy, you have made a great decision for yourself. Quitting smoking is a challenge. A challenge that is well worth the effort, you will be rewarded many times over. Enjoy the ride.
  14. Heard this song for the first time in a while on Outlaw Country. Back in the day, saw Dan Baird & Homemade Sin at The Brass Register in Chattanooga. They played a good set then spent the rest of the evening hanging out and drinking with the rest of us. Good guys...
  15. That's a common question: have I already done too much damage? Is it even worth it to quit at this point? We have to acknowledge the damage we did to ourselves as smokers. What's done is done. Rather than an excuse to continue smoking, this should provide more impetus to quit. The body has an amazing ability to heal itself. The mind will adjust and adapt to new lifestyle choices. Positive changes begin the moment we stop abusing ourselves with cigarettes. If you find yourself stuck in a hole, the first thing you do is stop digging. That's the spirit Linda. Know that you're doing the right thing. Keep the faith. March on.
  16. That's the thing about willpower: it's fickle and unreliable. Commitment is rock-solid and dependable. Leaning on my commitment when my willpower reserve was running low saved my quit during the early days.
  17. Great job Mac. You've built a great quit for yourself and have set a great example for those following your lead.
  18. Smoking is its own thing. We fed the addiction all day everyday. Smoking was central to everything we did. Our next fix was never more than a few minutes away. It takes a bit of time to acclimate to being a non-smoker. The only way to put all this behind you is to keep moving forward,
  19. I never really appreciated my thumbs until I watched my dog try to turn a doorknob. Opposable digits come in handy.
  20. Here.
  21. Congratulations Deb.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
